Quinn Harlowe worked for the Justice Dept until three months ago. Then she went out on her own. She is a smart intrepid investigator and when one of her best friends from the Justice Dept dies in a boating accident while she was staying at Quinn's cottage, Quinn starts her own investigation. Quinn was in the top echelon at Justice and knows most of the same people her friend did.
Huck McCabe is undercover in the small town Quinn's Cottage is in. He is investigating a group of suspected vigilantes. Not just a small local group, but a very high placed, well financed, and supplied group. Only a few very highly placed people know about the investigation.
Naturally Quinn and Huck meet when both investigations cross paths. The death of Quinn's friend is central to both and the more she digs the more he has to worry about her.

Ya gotta like Quinn Harlowe...a little flaky but the girl never gives up! Then there's the hot Huck McCabe (or is it Boone?) - and a suspected vigilante group - and some more undercover action (in both senses of the word). Good story, fast plot, fun read.

Romantic suspense and mystery. When a young woman is found dead, her friend tries to find out how she died and meets an undercover federal agent. Good story!

Three months ago Quinn Harlowe left the high-pressure hallways of the Justice Department to become an independent consultant and have more control over her life--maybe even have a life. But the nirvana of her new gig is short-lived when Quinn discovers fer friend and former colleague Alicia Miller dead outside Quinn's bayside cottage. Suicide? Quinn is doubtful.

An idyllic cottage. An unlikely suicide. A conspiracy out to blow the lid off the Department of Justice.

Most of these political suspense stories leave me cold, but this one was tightly plotted and moved along at a fast clip. I truly enjoyed the plot, the pace and the romance. This is a good read. Don't miss it.

I have not met a Neggers' book that I did not enjoy. This one lived up to expectations and kept me turning the pages to see who was doing what, how and why.

Investigating on her own, she soon discovers that someone is following her every mov. Huck McCabe claims he's a bodyguard at breakwater, a high security compound near Quinns cottage. But Quinn suspects he's lying, never imagining the truth: McCabe is an undercoveragent trying to penetrate a violent network of vigilantes the same people Quinn has identified.Joined by a common goal,Quinn and mcCabe must take on the fight of their lives a fight they know could lead to disaster.
