Book Description:
Maddie Townsend might live in a town called Serenity, but there's been nothing calm or peaceful about her life since her marriage broke up. This stay-at-home mom has no job skills, an out-of-control sixteen-year-old son, a talkative fourteen-year-old who's suddenly gone silent, a six-year-old daughter whose heart is broken, an ex-husband whose younger girlfriend is expecting their baby and two best friends who think she's somehow qualified to help them open a fitness spa for women.

But if Maddie is a tad on edge with all that on her plate, it's nothing compared to the chaos that ensues when she discovers that her son's baseball coach has feelings for her and the whole town disapproves. Maddie's faced a lot of challenges lately with strength and resolve, but Cal Maddox may turn out to be more than she can handle.

Then again, he could just be the one man in all of South Carolina who can help her find serenity.

This book offers a look into the lives of three best friends. The main character is Maddie and she is in the process of a messy divorce, trying to raise 3 children and also open a new business with her 3 best friends. In the end it all works out. I am in the process of reading the other 2 follow up stories about these 3 women, A Slice of Heaven and Feels Like Family. I'm sure those will be enjoyable too.

This was a wonderful story and I love the small town Sherryl has brought to life. I stayed up late two nights in a row so I could finish and am anxious for the next one in the series.

Wow, what a surprise...this book touched my heart. It is unusual for a book to start with a divorce and show the struggles of rebuilding a life. This is a real story...with real characters...with real situations. I LOVED the younger man/older woman scenerio. Stealing Home was a really good read! V.Garber

This is the first book of a trilogy. Each of the books is about one of three friends who live in a small South Carolina town and I loved their very different stories! This first book is mainly about Maddie and her children whose comfortable world has been rocked by her husband's betrayal. Her friends rally around and come up with a plan to get Maddie "out of the house"--they open an exercise/spa facility where Maddie, with her long unused business degree, turns an old Victorian house into a welcoming oasis for the townspeople. Because of difficulties with Maddie's oldest son, the young high school baseball coach becomes a very important part of Maddie's story.

I've recently read this entire series of books and enjoy the small town setting, the sense of family, and the friendship between Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen. As a mother in my forties, with teenagers, Maddie was someone I could relate to (only without the jerk husband and the hot new boyfriend!). Maddie grew during this book, and we get to go on that journey with her, and her family. As soon as I was finished, I couldn't wait to read Dana Sue's story in Book 2!

I enjoyed this trilogy. I thought it was great to read about the closeness and concern about friends and how they helped each other out.

Another wonderful Sherryl Woods book. I'm looking forward to read the rest of her Sweet Magnolias series to see what happens to Dana Sue and Helen. Sherryl Woods writes in about the same style as Debbie Macomber.
