These are both previously published stories. Vintage Macomber and a nice way to spend an afternoon if you are a fan.

Loved the first story. Hilarious. 2nd story was ok, not typical Macomber books, I didn't think. But, overall, good short reads.

Be My Valentine includes the stories My Funny Valentine and My Hero. Both are delightful reads.

In My Funny Valentine, single mom Dianne Williams has promised her matchmaking children that she will find a date for the upcoming Valentine dinner at the community center. Now where to find him? Providence drops a handsome stranger into her path and Dianne finds herself making a business proposition. One night... one date... for cold hard cash. No strings attached. What she didn't expect was her family's desire to meet him ahead of time and get to know him... nor did she expect her own heart strings to be tugged.

My Hero has a unique twist. Bailey York is doing her best to complete her first romance novel, but she has a problem. Her main lead is flat and unrealistic. She needs a model.. someone to watch as she learns what truly makes a hero. Enter Parker Davidson... a successful architect who finds himself taking public transportation one day while his car is in the shop.

Does Bailey do the normal thing and approach Davidson with her dilemma? No ... she follows him... and she gets caught! Finally having to fess up before being arrested for stalking, Parker finds her situation intriguing and offers to help. But his motives are not as altruistic as Bailey thinks. She is looking for a hero for her book... Parker wants to be the hero in her life.

Cute romances.. fun read!

Two sweet Valentine's Day romances in one book. The first one is about a woman who needs a date for a dinner, to look right for her children, mother and neighbors. She hires the man who rescues her in his tow truck. The second is about a novelist who follows a man who is her romance-novel hero in the flesh!

2 quick stories with similar story lines. Both women go after a man "just for one night" and the romance begins. I found them a bit farfetched but humorous.

Two of Debbie's earlier books in one volumn. My Funny Valentine was my favorite of the two. Good humor mixed with an unexpected romance. My Hero didn't work as well for me, still Debbie wrote it so it isn't all bad!!

Good Book

"Be My Valentine" consists of two previously published works by Debbie Macomber: "My Funny Valentine" first published in 1991 and "My Hero" first published in 1992.

In "My Funny Valentine", pushed by her mother and two children, divorcee Dianne Williams is desperate to find a date for the upcoming Valentine's Day dinner. So desperate, in fact, that when she locks her keys in her car and tow truck driver Steve Creighton comes to her rescue, she offers to pay him to escort her to the dinner. Little does she realize that that chance encounter will change her live forever.

"My Funny Valentine" is a very cute if short (a little over 100 pages) story. I pretty much smiled from beginning to end while reading it and wished it were longer. The set up is very cute, if unbelievable. Both lead characters are well done and Steve is a very romantic leading man. None of the story is meant to be taken seriously (Dianne's two children are too good to be true) but is at times laugh out loud funny (especially in the scenes where Steve tries to act besotted). "My Funny Valentine" is a cotton candy type of story, which is okay when you want to escape the real world.

In "My Hero", after two failed engagements, Bailey York has sworn off real life romance and decides to write a romance novel instead. However, the hero in her book feels a bit flat and she decides to look for a real life model - for writing purposes only. When she bumps into Parker Davidson she realizes he'd be the perfect model for her hero. Unfortunately for her peace of mind, he wants to be a hero on and off the page.

"My Hero" is a nicely done romance novel. Bailey is a fun heroine - owned by a cat that only cares when she feeds her and down with romance (except when writing about it). Her friend Jan is also a good character - happily married, she is still a romantic at heart. Parker is also a lot of fun, disbelieving at first, but soon falling in with Bailey's plan and in love with her. Macomber has a lot of fun with the concept of Bailey writing a romance novel and it's fun to read as Bailey's fictional romance turns into a real one.

"Be My Valentine" features two cute romances that will make readers smile.
