Krista Hart, publisher of the weekly London ladies' gazette Heart to Heart, is not afraid to speak her mind. Even on such unpopular issues as social reform--risking her reputation and her very safety--Krista will not be intimidated, although she knows full well she is the target of angry opposition for her outspoken views.
When she encounters a powerful Viking descendant imprisoned as a local sideshow attraction, Krista angrily demands his release. Although she tells herself that freeing Leif Draugr is simply the right thing to do, she can't deny being attracted to the fierce Nordic chieftain, especially after her father transforms him into a "proper" English gentleman.
But as anonymous threats against Krista become more and more aggressive, it is Leif who must face the unseen enemies desperate to silence her, even as they push her closer into the embrace of a warrior prepared to do whatever it takes to make her his.
This is a wonderful book about overcoming the differences in cultures to find love and that belonging to one person that defines love. Kat Martin is a master and this is another great book.

KAT MARTIN at her best. This story begins in ENGLAND 1842. A female publisher who is not afraid to speak her mind and a Viking descendant warrior determined to make her his.
I usually like Martin's work, but this was simply one of the worst books I've ever attempted to read. I failed. One of only 3 books in my life that I couldn't finish. This one was just not my cup of tea.

It was ok. Not up to the usual Kat Martin standard, but passable.

First in Kat Martin's "Heart" trilogy. An ardent supporter of improved working conditions for women and children, Krista Hart reports of unscrupulous employers in the London ladies' gazette, HEART TO HEART. She risks attacks from several different sources...a suitor who wants to make her his bride in order to gain her dowry, and employers who mistreat their employees to satisfy their own greed...but she manages to thwart them with the aid of a headstrong, virile Viking (Leif) that she falls in love with. But, neither seems willing to give up their duties and homeland for the sake of the other. Will neither one back down so that they can fulfill their destiny and marry? An interesting and sensuous love story. Volume 2 is HEART OF FIRE. Volume 3 is HEART OF COURAGE.

This was apretty good book. I really liked the thought of a viking island where the inhabitants had been untouched by time. Living the way they always had not knowing or caring about the world beyond.

Krista Hart is the editor of a weekly ladies' gazette aptly named Heart to Heart. When she first meets Lief Draugr, he is little more than a dirty beast, snarling at and being abused by his captors. She blackmails the sideshow owner into releasing Lief, and she and her father take him home. Lief cleans up really well, especially after her father transforms him into a proper English gentleman. But when Krista's life is threatened, it is the Viking, not the faux gentleman, she calls on! Ginger Curwen
