Museum curator Summer Hawthorne considered the exquisite ice-blue ceramic bowl given to her by her beloved Japanese nanny a treasure of sentimental value-until somebody tried to kill her for it.
The priceless relic is about to ignite a global power struggle that must be stopped at all costs. It's a desperate situation, and international operative Takashi O'Brien has received his directive: everybody is expendable. Everybody. Especially the woman who is getting dangerously under his skin as the lethal game crosses the Pacific to the remote and beautiful mountains of Japan, where the truth can be as seductive as it is deadly...

This is the third in Stuart's "Ice" series. It tells Takashi O'Brien's story. He is trying to reclaim an ancient Japanese bowl from Assistant Museum Curator Summer Hawthorne. His orders are to eliminate Summer in order to prevent mass destruction of life, but he can't seem to make himself do it. Typical Stuart alpha, edge of danger- male and strong survivalist female.

I like the dark hero, the wary heroine and their romance, but was pretty uninterested in the suspense part of the last 1/4 or so of the bk. Good read but not a keeper.

3rd in series(black ice, cold as ice) and this hero seems the coldest of the 3 but this was one of the more interesting stories to me dealing with history of japan and a religious nutcase(didn't care for that part!) and introduced the couple in fire and ice(book 4). He rescues the woman then tries to kill her several times..unbelievable though you have to understand each 'hero' has to deal with 'the committee' which has to make the best decision overall and sometimes has to sacrifice an innocent citizen for the 'good of all'. The sex in these books seem forced and a powerplay of sorts except for maybe briefly but that's how these guys are and for them to fall in love and go against the committee shows their devotion. I've enjoyed these 3 books though they're not my usual cup of tea in the romance genre..I usually like more loving characters.
