Book Description:
At twenty-five, after five years as her mother's caregiver, it's time for Shelby to experience freedom and adventure. Time for travel, college and romance. But when she visits Virgin River, she runs into Luke Riordan, decidedly not whom she has in mind.

A handsome Blackhawk pilot, Luke exited the army after twenty years, four wars and having been shot out of the sky three times. At thirty-eight he's tough and jaded. His major was in one-night stands, with a minor in commitment avoidance.

Technically, these two are all wrong for one another. But sometimes what you want and what you need are two different things... two very good things.

Robyn Carr sucked me in to Virgin River yet again! I read Second Chance Pass a few weeks ago and really liked it. I forced myself to hold off on reading Temptation Ridge for a little while, and now I'm kicking myself! Once I started, I could not put this book down.

If you are a fan of this series at all, you will truly enjoy this book. The book description on the back is a bit misleading. Shelby and Luke ARE the main characters (according to the plot), but their story maybe, maybe takes up half of the pages. It is so wonderful to read about all of the familiar characters from past books as well as discovering the stories behind the new faces (Walt & Murial and Cam & Abby).

Luke is a wonderful hero: strong, arrogant, handsome, sexy and wounded (emotionally). It is delightful to watch Shelby get past his barriers. Their "wrong for each other" storyline is pretty predictable, but the way the scenes are written, it's like it is new all over again. Luke is too old for her. She's too innocent for him. He knows that, she knows that, and you know there is going to be a big blow-up over it (even though they had "the talk"). Given that it's a romance, you know there is going to be a happy ending, and it is well worth the journey of reading this book to see how they get there!

Great continuation of the Virgin River series! Love this place and everyone in it - even when the stories take the same path - the people are different and I can't wait to see it turn out great!!! Just the way everyone wants it to!!!

Luke and Shelby's story was very enjoyable and absorbing but I think the best part of these books (Carr's Virgin River series) is how she weaves the lives of other people in, how she builds for the next book by allowing the lives of the main characters to affect the people around them. The beginning of Cameron and Abby's story, the continuing build of Muriel and Walt's relationship, Cheryl's entry into a program at Mel's insistence and with Mel's help, all these pieces weave in and out of the main story and provide so much depth to the book that it has become perhaps my second favorite in the series (the original is still the one I love best). Robyn Carr writes wonderful romances and this one doesn't disappoint.

I absolutely loved this series. You feel the warmth of the characters and the community. I wanted to keep on reading forever.

This installment of Virgin River brings Vanni's cousin Shelby to town. She is starting her life now that her mother has passed and she is getting that start in VR. This book brings in a new male lead by the name of Luke Riordan. He is not part of the Semper Fi pack, but he is Army and that makes for some fun times between him and Shelby's very PROTECTIVE uncle, Walt, the retired 3 star army general. It moves a little slower than some of the others in places, but it is still a great book and it makes me itch to read even more about my Virgin River family!

I've been reading Carr's Virgin River Series and I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed it. All those military men congregating in this little town so they can get away has made for great strong characters and great reading. I'll continue reading this series!

I love this series. Each book has new main characters (in temptation ridge it is Shelby and Luke) but I really love to see the continuation of stories from previous books. I can't get enough of Jack and Mel who ancor the town and the books, not to mention the cameos from the Grace Valley crew. I love how each of her books have the main romance but she gives lots of supporting characters and relationships significant time. It's like watching a movie with multiple stories going on. I hope she never stops writing the virgin river books!
