Book Description:
In this spiritual memoir and travelogue, two young men hit the open road in a VW bus searching for experience--and more. Donald Miller tells how he and a new friend, Paul--two "Republican rebels"--set out from Houston, Texas, with Oregon as their vague destination. Paul reflects on people, places, and things that he sees along the way, but also uses the trip to broaden and deepen his religious views and to get a better fix on his identity as a Christian. (This is a revised edition of the book originally published as PRAYER AND THE ART OF VOLKSWAGEN MAINTENANCE.)

this book was a very open and honest christian memoir. I love his perspective on things and the honesty of searching -but-not-searching-for God is refreshing.
He gives so downright funny stories about his trip cross country and the sometimes smart ass mouth that gets him in deep trouble at truck stops.
I like how God loves these boys in their mess and Paul is constantly challanging Don to be and do better.
Recommend Blue Like Jazz too.
