Book Description:
It's 1936, in Flint, Michigan. Ten-year-old Bud may be a motherless boy on the run, but he's on a mission. His momma never told him who his father was, but she left a clue: posters of Herman E. Calloway and his famous band, the Dusky Devastators of the Depression! Bud's got an idea that those posters will lead to his father. A great book about a boy on the run to find his father. Bud brings a boyish attitude to his struggle in life after his mother dies. The book is sweet and has a great ending.
Maria R. from HIGHLAND PARK, IL wrote on 3/10/2007...I read this book with my son and we both really enjoyed this story about an orphan boy during the depression. Bud took us on an adventure that we laughed,cried,and wouldn't soon forget.
