Book Description:
With nearly 20 albums, two Grammys, two Cable ACE awards, and more HBO specials sunder his belt than anyone else, George Carlin is more popular than ever. Now, for the first time, Carlin has prduced a book of original humor pieces, Brain Droppings. Filled with thoughts, musings, questions, lists, beliefs, curiousities, monologues, assertions, assumptions, and other verbal ordeals, Brian Droppings is infectiously funny. Also included are two timeless bonus items from the past, "A Place for Your Stuff" and "Baseball-Football."

Readers will get an inside look into Carlin's mind, and they won't be disappointed by what they find:

* I buy stamps by mail. It works OK until I run out of stamps.
* What year did Jesus Christ think it was?
* A tree: first you chop it down, then you chop it up.
* Have you ever noticed the lawyer is always smiling more than the client?
* I put a dollar in one of those change machines. Nothing changed.
* If you ever have chicken at lunch and chicken at dinner, do you ever wonder if the two chickens knew each other?

Interesting'ly Strange book. Lots of cursing in it, so if you sensitive to cursing, you probably won't want this book. I myself wouldn't of gotten it had I known. It'd be a great book if they didn't curse so much in it. That's just a big turn off to me.

Very funny. I read it twice. Sometimes I find him a little too unabashedly adolescent, but then he'll go and write something profound to make up for it. Very smart, dirty, comedy.

I don't like most of Carlin's humor, so it's not surprising I didn't really like this book. The only reason I read it is because I read a different book by him, and it had some really good parts. (Interspersed in not so good). This one had a couple decent parts stuck in a lot of boring repetitive paragraphs. I think his humor is inversely related to the number of swear words he throws in the joke--he can be very funny, but usually he's just boringly crude and 'kill'm all'. That's not funny to me the first time, and definitely not as repetitively as it is in the book.

There are a couple sections which are funny. His discussions on names, for example, and the comparison between baseball & football. Also, the monologue on stuff starts out really really good (but goes on a bit too long). The book as a whole, however, was not worth the time to read. Those parts were not good enough to justify the waste of time on the rest.

George Carlin's sometimes cutting exploration of the idiocies he finds in our culture. ALways funny, often penetrating, and always a unique viewpoint that makes the reader think. A hell of a lot of fun.

George Carlin was a funny guy, and this is a funny book. If you want to get reacquainted with "A Place for My Stuff" and "Baseball vs. Football" ... this is the book for you.

Be warned, though, that he is EXTREMELY PROFANE! ... A little profanity can add a humorous edge to comedy, but this book went too far in that vein (IMHO) ... I wish some comedians would realize that they can leave out the profanity and still be funny ...

Very funny and quite typical of George's style. He's not the least bit shy and tells it just as it "is"!! It's worth your time to read, if you have a "George Carlin" sense of humor. I loved it.
