Book Description:
After successfully helping hundreds of thousands of people take responsibility for their own actions, Dr. Phil McGraw now turns his expertise to the primary area of concern troubling most people: their relationships. In his tell-it-like-it-is style that already has influenced millions of Oprah viewers, "Dr. Phil" blows the whistle on the rhetoric of traditional "couples therapy" and instead tells you that -- no matter what state your relationship is in -- not only are you responsible for it, you are responsible for getting it back on track. By doing this, he offers readers the chance for further happiness through meaningful, fulfilling relationships that work. Dr. Phil McGraw sets the record straight on the most popular myths about what a good relationship is supposed to be, such as:
Myth #1: A great relationship depends on a great meeting of the minds
Myth #2: A great relationship demands a great romance
Myth #3: A great relationship requires great problem-solving
Myth #4: A great relationship requires common interests that bond you together forever
Myth #5: A great relationship is a peaceful one
Myth #6: A great relationship lets you vent all your feelings
Myth #7: A great relationship has nothing to do with sex
Myth #8: A great relationship cannot survive a flawed partner
Myth #9: There is a right way and a wrong way to make your relationship great
Myth #10: Your relationship can only become great when you get your partner straightened out

Terrific and to the point as usual, the Doctor draws on personal and professional experiences to highlight his advice and theories.

If you love Dr. Phil, you will love this book. It is helpful and encouraging. I think it gave a more realistic look at what "successful" means in a relationship. So many books idealize the "good" relationships. Dr. Phil helped me see that if it works for you and your partner, it works!

I think this was Dr Phil's first book. It's very helpful, in a step-by-step guide kind of way. Be prepared to do the work!

He tells it like it is. Whether you want the truth or not. Very helpful (even if your husband won't read it.

I respect Dr. Phil and he gives one food for thought in this book. IT is important that you have a partner willing to read and participate in the books suggestions. YOu can't go it alone.

Everything you've always wanted to know about the "reality" of human relationships. Explore the truth and the myth about relationships. Myths such as: A great relationship demands a great romance, or A great relationship is a peaceful one. Mentions "hidden agendas" in relationships on page 94. Covers many interesting quirks and foibles and how to work through them without running over your mate or partner like a human freight train of assertiveness.
