Gears' prehistoric novels are all astounding reads - better than Auel's. Although this does not rival People of the Lakes, it is still a super read.
The Gears made a wonderful series of books. "The People of the ..." If you are interested in Indian heritage, or mythology, or just enjoy a bit of romance thrown into your historical adventure then this book is for you. Its classic good versus evil and sets up the mythology of the rest of the series.
