Young doctor Gina Panzella has known her boss, plastic surgeon Dr. Duncan Lathram, almost her entire life, and respects him deeply. Charming and brilliant, Duncan has invented a dissolving implant that allows incisions to heal without scarring. Duncan's artistry in the operation room is the salvation of Washington's biggest power players whenever they need touch-ups for C-Span.
But there are a few things about Duncan that Gina can't quite figure out. Why did he trade vascular surgery for the more profitable but less vital plastic surgery, and why won't he accept his patients' medical insurance? What caused his daughter's death and the breakup of his marriage? Why do his tirades against the new congressional medical ethics committee have such a bitter personal sting? And what is his connection to two committee members who died in accidents not long after Duncan operated on them?
Soon Gina's curiosity about Duncan is replaced by suspicion and fear. With the help of Gerry Canney, a high school classmate now working for the FBI, Gina determines to find out what ruined Duncan's personal life and aroused his wrath against the congressmen. She find a man much more complex and mysterious than the sharp-tongued but kindhearted physician she though she knew. Then two more congressmen fall ill after Duncan's surgery. And Gina discovers another kind of implant in Duncan's arsenal.
A Medical Murder Mystery, this story covers the world of Plastic Surgery in the elite of Washington, D.C. Has exicting twists and turns, good plot, GREAT storytelling! If you enjoy medical stories, politics, or just a great murder mystery, this one's for you!

Another excellent drama. This time, the author takes on experimental medicine and revenge. It may make you think twice about plastic surgery!

This is a medical thriller by F. Paul Wilson. Chock full of action and suspense. A fun read.

Wealthy plastic surgeon Duncan Lathram would seem to have it made. Thanks to the aid of his brother, a hotshot pharmacologist and implant inventor, his clientele is the rich and famous. But then representatives and senators on a congressional guidelines committee, all of whom have had close associations with Duncan, start dying. Duncan's young surgical colleague, Gina Panzella, starts putting implants, accidents, and motives together, and the action in Wilson's medical thriller picks up. The smoothness with which Wilson develops the plot, the fact that all the major characters are believable human beings, and the mounting excitement as the pieces of a murderous puzzle fall into place should keep readers rapt right to the last page.

Interesting premise about discovering a plant that is basically the fountain of youth. But the author, running into some deadends in his story, comes up with some unbelievable plot contrivances to get his main character out of trouble. The book had promise and includes some great suspense, but ultimately fails to live up to the intensity at the beginning of the book.

This was a really good read. I couldn't put it down and it kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending was somewhat of a surprise as well. Very good.

Lots of suspense in this medical thriller - although it takes place in DC, the primary interest is personal rather than political and the motive is very personal indeed.

I enjoyed this book. The story was not what I've come to expect from Wilson, but it was worth reading.
