Book Description:

Julia Evans: billionairess, owner of Event Horizon, for fifteen years undisputed power behind the world's economic renaissance. And in trouble.

With her computer-genius husband missing and rival companies suddenly claiming to have acquired a technology impossibly superior to anything on Earth, Julia has no time to notice an anonymously delivered flower. But this flower has genes millions of years in advance of terrestrial DNA.

Is it a cryptic alien message or a poignant farewell from her husband? Only Greg Mandel can discover its origin, but he is not alone in his desperate search. A vicious mercenary killer, a jade merchant, and a high-priced courtesan all have a part to play.

It was never going to be easy, but as Greg and Julia discover, simply being first in the race isn't nearly good enough as the Nano Flower starts to bloom....

Entertaining science fiction thriller--a kind of mystery with nanotech. Very inventive.

Worth reading! Several years have passed since Book 2 (A Quantum Murder), the major characters and European countries are settling down, now that the worst ravages of global warming are past. People are adapting, technology is advancing, the social situation and economy are recovering from the chaos accompanying massive climate change. In addition to the excellent descriptions of futuristic technology, we get a view of society, economics and politics in a not so pretty future. Underneath the intrigue and fast moving plot is the question of what constitutes a person when minds can be stored digitally, and bodies can be cloned.
