Book Description:
Everything changed for Ed that day in the fall semester when he got a letter from Holly, the girl he loved. "Dear Ed," it began, "I will always cherish the times we had...." Holly was in love with someone else. It was as if his whole world had changed in a second. That night, heartbroken and half mad with despair, Ed couldn't sleep, so he decided to go for a walk. But it's a dark, scary night in the lonesome October, and Ed is not alone....

There are others out there in the night, roaming the streets, lurking in the darkness--waiting to show Ed just how different his world could be. Some of them are enticing, like the beautiful girl who wants to teach Ed about the womders of the night. Some are disturbing and threatening. Some are deadly....and in search of prey.

This is the kind of story that sticks in your mind, especially when you find yourself in the dark,on foot; I believe that it generates strange sounds just ahead or just behind you. Yeah,I know its only your imagination reacting to the long ago remembered story, but it still will send a chill up your spine if it don't scare the Bejesus out of you!!

I have read many Laymon books and this has to be one of my least favorite so far. Seemed to take forever to get through it. Nothing really happened and the ending left so much open.

Typical Laymon story. It was okay, but the ending was a little disappointing to me. There is not as much sex and violence as other books of his I have read.
