Leigh is a beautiful girl, eighteen years old, headstrong and rebellious. All she wants from her summer by the lake is a chance to relax and have some fun. But her summer fling will lead to terror. That night in the old abandoned house will haunt her nightmares for the rest of her life.
Eighteen years later, Leigh's daughter, Deana, doesn't know much about what happened to her mother all those years ago, and she doesn't particularly care. She too is looking for fun. What she finds instead is a shadowy figure out for blood-and his own twisted kind of fun. Killing Deana's boyfriend is just the beginning. Before he's done, both mother and daughter will be plunged into a whirlpool of fear and madness, from which death is the only escape.

Well, this book starts out with a young woman (Leigh) that becomes a young mother. But very odd circumstances come to play with the said father of this child. The child, Deana, ends up having some very odd things happen to her as well. I don't want to say too much. But what I can say is this is a great book. It has some minor gory parts, involving a killer, but nothing that would be considered TOO gross. I really enjoyed this book, and it really made me much more interested in Richard Laymon's other books.

I found this to be just a little bit slower paced than Laymon's usual fare, but it was still a good read.

A girl and her boyfriend are terrorized by a maniac with a meat cleaver. While the girl tries to cope with the aftermath of this attack, her mother finds friendship and romance with police officers assigned to the case. But, unbeknown to her, danger will come from a new source...

Good and suspenseful.

I didn't find this Laymon book as good as others I have read of his. Don't like books that jump around alot like this one did. Was an ok read though.

I read everything of Layman's I can get my hands on and have most of his work. from what I understand this one was done by his estate after his death polished up from and old manuscript... outline... rough draft... etc. His daughter works a lot with this and cemetery dance magazine. If you've never read the CD mag check out their web site and order a copy... worth every penny. This book is pretty good.... just moves around a lot.
