I got about one third of the way through and put it down--which is not something I do very often. I love Lamott's non-fiction, but her novels lack substance and just don't hold my interest.

I like her non-fiction much better. This is based on real events in her life, but some of it is fictionalized.

Anne Lamott always knows how to give her storytelling the best attention - this novel is no exception. Great perceptions on family dynamics in this strange, delightful book.

A close family in a small town in California, narrated by the 23 year old daughter who reports on how life changes when her father discovers he has a brain tumor.
