Nashville's year 2000 was the year of the Tennessee Titans' Super Bowl, of Billy Graham's last local crusade, of Al Gore's presidential campaign, and of a city's emergence into the "big time" on many fronts. Nashville: A Year in the Life interprets the dramatic transformation of a city in thoughtful essays and stunning, full-color images from the best photographers now working in Nashville.

The book will be an audit of the civic soul, a time capsule in print, published for readers yet unborn. It will serve as a companion to—and update of—John Egerton's Nashville: The Faces of Two Centuries, published in 1979 as the official bicentennial history of the city.
