A fictitious story woven around real events. This story personalizes the problems small villages in Africa are experiencing because they are located overtop of valuable oil resources. Rather than seeing the problem from 10,000 feet, the story is brought up close and personal through Little Bee's horrifying experience and her desperate search for hope. Good story - I could not put it down.

Little Bee tells the stories of two women from different parts of the world whose lives intersect with startling consequences. The story is told in chapters which alternate between the womens' points of view. Author Chris Cleave deserves credit for giving each character such a distinctive and believable voice.
Little Bee is simultaneously heartbreaking and uplifting. Just read it.

I had to wait a while for this book and so I fully intended to take my time enjoying it. Unfortunately (?) I found it quite difficult to put the book down and finished it in one day. Bummer!!! What a magnificent story!!!

Suspenseful, dark, different, at times touching and at times violent. A story of hope, morals, trust and survival. A Nigerian refugee shows up on the doorstep on a British couple whom she met on a beach in Nigeria years before. I was mesmerized by the story as the book progressed. You won't want to put this book down once you start...it hooks you from page one.
