Another great book. A lot of mystery, suspense, and of course romance. The heroine, Marianne, is a strong woman who can take care of herself. It's not like some of the historical books that you read where the lady ALWAYS needs a man. She stands on her own. A very well written book.

Placed in an orphanage after the murder of her parents, the eldest child of Lord and Lady Chilton had given up any hope that her family in England would ever look for her. Marie Anne, now known as Marianne Cotterwood, has little experience with love, but cannot deny her attraction to the suspicious and arrogant Lord Lambeth. When Marianne is the victim of some lethal "accidents," it becomes clear that someone is looking for her after all. Someone who does not want her to discover her true identity.

A dangerous shadow from her past is closing in, and Marianne finds she has no choice but to place her trust in the one man she fears may be as reckless as she.. Not the usual run-of-the-mill romance novel.
