Book Description:
For the last fifteen hundred years, the KlingonsTM have revered him as the first Klingon emperor, the legendary warrior who united their people and taught them the meaning of honor. Myths and fables have grown around the memory of Kahless, but the truth of his incredible life has remained a mystery . . . until now.

A clone of the original Kahless now holds the title of emperor. He thinks he knows all there is to know about his mighty ancestor, until the discovery of an ancient scroll throws the ancient stories into doubt and threatens to tear the Klingon Empire apart. Surrounded by treachery and rumors of revolt, he can trust no one -- except Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Lieutenant Worf of the U.S.S. EnterpriseTM.

The past collides with the present as the true story of the historical Kahless sparks a battle for control of the entire Klingon Empire. Yet even if Worf and Picard can prevent a civil war, the revelations contained by the scroll ensure that the Klingon Empire -- and the rest of the galaxy -- will never be the same.

Collecting one of DC's finest NextGen storylines, from issues 20-24. Worf, Riker and other crew members are on a medical mission when their shuttlecraft disappears. The others are forced to come to terms with their presumed deaths, but they have urgent missions to complete. Beverly in particular is devastated, having lost her only son. The away team, of course, is still alive and must overcome a nest of enemies and a starship trap to reach safety. Meanwhile, the Enterprise assists the natives of a water world, but Deanna discovers these people are hiding a dark secret.
Michael Jan Friedman is one of Trek's favorite writers, and his run at DC comics is no exception. The characters are resourceful as always in facing their many challenges, but the grief of "the ones left behind" is truly powerful.

From back of comic book:

A routine shuttlecraft mission goes awry, leading Captain Picard to believe half his commnad crew has perished. Faced with continuing the mission of the U.S.S. Enterprise, the captain and crew must deal with their grief on their own time.

Unknown to the crew, though, is that the shuttle crew is not dead - just on the other side of the galaxy! Their epic struggle to survive and ultimately find their way home fuels this power-packed story with dynamic artwork.
