I was so unexpectedly pleased by this book. It's a splendid retelling of a minor Greek myth that has great historical and cultural detail from the era. This really fleshes out the characters and most of all the life and after life experiences Alcestis. Very well done! I would love to see more from Katharine Beutner in the future.
