Book Description:
Competition for church members in Mount Oak has reached a furious peak. When tragedy strikes one of their hometown sons, the church women are drawn together through compassion. The Church Ladies is a contemporary tale illustrating how women can have a major impact on the church. Through friendships that reach beneath surface level -- and trials more severe than simple -- they unite with common purpose: to pray, share, and comfort. Slowly, the community of believers learns that the church grows when it is rooted in love. Characters you'll laugh and cry with, in situations every woman will instantly relate to, light up this page-turner about a miracle that could happen anywhere.

I LOVE Lisa Samson's books and this one definitely did not disappoint. She works some very deep theological issues into engaging, accessible stories and characters, as well as pulling off lots of laugh-out-loud comments along the way! This novel truly resonated with me, as I think it will with anyone who has been in a marriage or a life for years and it has struggling with the sameness or day-to-day-ness of it. The importance of asking for God's help in these struggles was emphasized and I have been uplifted by reading it.

Great read. Anyone who is married to a man in the ministry, or even just in a church leadership postion, will definitely enjoy this book. You'll find yourself saying "been there, done that," all along the way. You'll be encouraged as you see how the Lord works through his creation, and you'll come away with a new appreciation for all those "church ladies" you know.

A deliciously different read. Quirky, edgy and original. Laugh out loud funny and soul deep serious. Every character comes alive. It was great!

This has to be one of the best books I've read. The bonus is that it's Christian fiction. Instead of unrealistic characters who never make a mistake, the main character in the book is as fallible as the rest of us. I reread this book every time I feel down & unworthy and remind myself that I'm on a journey. It is my favorite Lisa Samson book so far...

Life is going on as usual in Mount Oak. That's the problem. But when a tragic loss test the faith of Poppy and the other women of Mount Oak, Poppy realized that her church-and her very life-is changing in ways she never could have imagined.

Christian author. Good read. Contemporary story. Not the least bit sappy.
