This author was new to me, but I'll definitely be looking for her later books. It works beautifully as a legal thriller, and brings to life some fascinating and some truly reprehensible characters. It's also a scathing indictment of racism, both subtle and brutally overt, and its influence and impact. I truly couldn't put the book down: well done!

Sydney Bauer is a genius!!! This is an AWESOME debut. The book grabs you from the first page and never lets go. There are fantastic twists, curves and shockers. For anyone who likes mystery novels, this is the one for you and a MUST read.

I requested this with no expectations since I had never heard of the author - what a great book! Once I started reading it, I could barely put it down - one of the best legal thrillers I've read in a long time. Highly recommended.
