Book Description:
Loki, greatest of all Assassins, returns to his guild only to find it in ruins and his brethren slain. The only clues to the architect of this destruction are the symbol of an ancient order or warriors and the name "Chaos". His heart set on vengeance, Loki sets out to find this Chaos and repay him in kind.

Another killer, the cursed swordsman Skurai, is on Chaos' trail. He seeks the blood that will satisfy his demon sword's thirst, and if his instincts are correct, Chaos' blood will do just that. Last time he and the Rune Knight met, Chaos escaped. Skurai carried out the Assassins' Guild massacre to set a trap for Chaos; weakened by a battle with Loki, he should be easy prey.

Destiny brings these three great warriors together, but in the mortal realm of Midgard, destiny doesn't always go as the gods planned. English adaptation by New York Times bestselling author Richard A. Knaak, author of Diablo: Legacy of Blood and Dragonlance: The Citadel.

With this book, I think Lee is hitting his stride writing this story. The plot is advancing at just the right pace and elements of the past are revealed. It is a more "serious" read than the first two books.

I'm finding it more and more interesting how Lee uses characters from Norse mythology in completely new and different roles. But the key to enjoying these books is to remember that the only real ties to Norse mythology here are the names of some characters and some basic relationships. Everything else is Lee's imagination, and so far it has been getting better with each book.

Great story and great artwork (and the level of gratuitous female cleavage is way down).
