"What a powerful story. This young girl's diary of her self-loathing and voluntary descent into sexual degradation and abuse is heart-wrenching. I found myself hoping against hope when good things came into her life, and felt crushed when they didn't pan out. Her struggle against her own feelings of inadequacy and self-worth was admirable and her search for a better life kept me turning the pages. Fascinating read, hard at times to deal with the things she allowed to happen to herself, but worth the discomfort."

"Very good! Loved the characters, the action was non-stick, the story-line was based on fact--all good. The relationships were so real, and the two "hitmen" were both sexy as all get out. Good read, I recommend it."

"Enchanting story! I loved it! The narrative was elegant and the characters so three-dimensiional, I suffered with every blow to either of the two lead characters in their battle to be together. The erotic/sexual encounters were handled masterfully. The descriptions were stimulating without being lewd or crude in any way. The age of the girl was always a part of the story, naturally, and obviously that was a key part of the erotic nature of the book, the stigma of having sexual relations with an underage child, no matter how mature in other ways, but it was the love these two had for each other that gave me the greatest satisfaction. Highly recommened."

"What a great collection of short stories! Very eclectic, and I loved every one of them. Super read, and so easy to put down for a day or two and then jump right back into. Highly recommend!"

"This is an amazing story. Two books in and I can't wait for the third and final chapter. Kalogridis has done an outstanding job of putting a new twist on the Dracula legend that is very plausible and yet full of surprises. It's a little sexy without being bawdy, a little horrific without being gory. The plot-line keeps up a good pace and the characters are people that you can relate to. I carry the books wherever I go and the pages keep turning themselves. Worth your time!"

"James Jennings (not a real person, but a nom de plume) does such a good job with Victorian erotic novels and stories. Tha characters are always fully-fleshed out (no pun intened), the story-lines are credible and interesting and occasioanlly quite funny, and the sexual encounters are always descriptive and highly arousing. Sexy and good fun, no harm-no foul stories, highly recommended."

"Good book, read it in two sittings. Almost a mystery story, you follow along with the mian character as she's led from situation to situation, discilpined by one perposn after another, and all the while she's trying to figure out where it's all heading. She starts to realize she likes being disciplined then consoled afterwards. The wave after wave of pain followed by pleasure is breaking down her resistance. But now she wants to become a "member of the club" and here the mystery begins. Who's the mysterious Dr Hazel? Will she be allowed to stary? Will she get a Comino Tattoo? The spanking and whipping scenes were well-done, because the scenarios are so well-staged. The characters are well-drawn, you feel invested in her experiences. The sex scenes are actually prerry mild, though the discipline is rough enough. Highly recommended."

"Amazing series of stories, poems and limericks. Sexy, funny, insightful and thought-provoking, the subjects covers the sexual spectrum: male, female, married, single, gay, straight, group, monogamous, kinky and good old "vanilla" sex. Just a wonderful mix of well-written,provocative stories that never failed to titillate and entertain. Highly entertaining!"

"Very well-written story, the characters were fully fleshed-out and the details of the various locales put you right in the story. Interesting play on the Beauty and the Beast tale, but wonderfully-placed in the early 20th century, mostly in the San Francisco area, and culminating with a very famous local event. The love story was well-drawn out and the magical portions of the tale were a nice change from the urban-fantasy machinations of werewolves and vampires, though the main character was a werewolf of sorts. Altogether a great read, I was taking the book everywhere I went, and hated to have to put it down for any reason."

"A very pleasant surprise! I was expecting (hoping) for stories more in the paranormal line, and the only one that applied was the one by Jeaniene Frost (which was very good). But the other stories were just that--very good short stories, by very good authors. So a very nice read altogether."

"Highly recommend for horror fans. Not a lot of gore, but just good, old-fashioned horror and suspense. She builds it up wonderfully, in the style of Bram Stoker's Dracula or Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Very classical and deliberate, excellent well-written characters that are very easy to empathise with. The story is all about Dracula, and mentions Stoker frequently throughout the story. It's rather like a detective novel in that the characters, two generations apart, and connected by a series of notes and letters, are searching for the resting place of the still undead Dracula with the goal of finally destroying him. All the lead characters are being hunted by Dracula, as they are hunting for him--some are attacked and put in peril of becoming undead themselves. The suspense is in not knowing who will survive, will the monster be found, will the hunt continue after the book is done? I stayed up WAY past my bedtime last night finishing it, and I'll suffer today, but I simply could not have gone to sleep last night without knowing the answers. Wonderful read!"

"Great end to a superior trilogy--the best trilogy of any genre I've read in the last ten years. The characters were so deep, the world they lived in so rich and detailed. I got so immersed in the personas: their hopes, their dreams, their pain and sorrow, their pleasure and happiness. Great cast of characters, great storyline, great villains, fantastic heroes. Phedre is a truly unique and mesmerizing heroine. Thank you so much, Jacqueline Carey!"

"Not like any erotic (or non-erotic) book I have ever read. Reading almost like a poem, the story unfolds of a young woman who leaves her marriage (I think) and drifts through London and the surrounding countryside searching for memories of her past life. You're never sure if she had an accident and lost her memory, or if she's repressing it for some reason, but she runs across people wherever she goes who seem to know that she's "accepting" of certain erotic behaviors, or people that might (or might not) be friends, acquaintances and family members who also enjoy erotic interludes with her. It's an enchanting story, beautifully written. A pleasant change from the usual fare, and I found it extremely hard to put down."

"I first read this book when I was in my teens, and I continue to read a copy at least once every 5 or 10 years. Part of me connects with the protagonist's desire to get away from it all, and I feel the magic that's Shangrila wash over me every time I reread it. As I get older, as my tastes and desires mature, as my goals change to reflect my changing lifestyle, the book affects me differently, but with no less intensity. The magic is always there, and my imagination is given free reign to again fly up into the mountains..."

"Set in the time prior to the Civil War, the story is about a young woman forced into sexual servitude to a plantation owner, through her involvement in the slave-freeing Underground Railroad. I enjoyed the sexuality of the story but I also enjoyed the story from an historical perspective. Good plot, interesting characters, good and bad, throughout the story. Highly recommended erotic historical novel."

"Loved it! This is a very well-written, creative series with an unusual twist on the urban-fantasy/vampire genre. Love the characters, especially the main character, Dawn Madison. She's tough but flawed, burdened with a satchelfull of guilt concerning her dead mother. No spoilers, but I highly recommend this series, and of course start with the first book!

"A good read and erotic as well! The sexual passages were at a minimum, though, but they were all very well written and very exciting. Sad, bittersweet tale, it was an historical novel of a young woman captured at the fall of Khartoum in the late 1800's and forced into a life of sexual slavery. The author went to some length to explain how a "civilized" woman could end up, if not happy, then at least content to remain what she had become. Not sure if this is just the author's opinion or whether it represents actual reserach into the minds of those forced into this kind of life. The last chapter brought the reader up to present day (late 1970's-1980's) describing the modern white slave trade which is still operating with deadly efficiency. All in all an excellent book. I recommend it not only to those who care for erotic liertaure, but to anyone who wants to broaden their understanding of this aspect of humans mistreating other humans for profit's sake."
