This is one of the greatest books ever, and the translation is perfect! I had to read it for a college class so I naturally dreaded it. But after reading the short excerpt from my text, I immediately went to the bookstore and bought the book. Definitely a must read!

I LOVED this book! It follows the life of Edward the Confessor from his very early childhood to the end of his reign. Great characterization and a very interesting plotline. One of the best books I have read in a long time.

This is absolutely hands down the best book I have ever read. I read it over four years ago and it still haunts me. Incredible book!

This book was very enjoyable. Tiberius has always been look upon as a terrible, depraved man. However, this book portrays him as a man slandered by those closest to him and subject to the corruption of the Roman political system. Definitely worth reading, just to see how it is at least possible that Tiberius' name was ruined simply because he was away from Rome and waited too late to silence his enemies.
