She finally meets her new handsome next door neighbor who has won the lottery and appears to have no motivation to get a job while at the same time takes on a boarder, a 75 year old lady name Elsie Hawkins who totes around a gun in her purse. I couldn't put this book down and couldn't stop laughing, especially when Elsie was on the scene. Great book!

This spare, piercing, and unforgettable novel bridges two centuries of two intense love stories as Hannah and Conary's fate is interwoven with the tale of a marriage that took place in Dundee a hundred years earlier.
