A wonderful book. Gives insight to the heartache that touches the entire family. The anger and confustion that often comes when a grown child returns back home to live and more. Coping with handling granchildren of divorce, dealing with money problems. Deepening parent-child relationships.
I enjoyed listening to the life of Rebecca and the noisy, rowdy, difficult members of the Davitch family. When Rebecca marries Joseph Davitch, she becomes the stepmother of his three kids, then has a daughter of her own. Her husband dies in a car crash, after which yet more Davitches come to live with her. Somehow, Rebecca--in the midst of her own troubles--holds it all together, but, she begins to suspect, at the cost of her own self.

Loved the book and can hardly wait to get Brother Odd this month.
Siddons at her best. Could not put the book down. Loved the lasting devotion of these long time low country friends, maintaining their friendships through all the years of good and bad. I was surprised with the "twist" at the end. Highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read Anne Rivers Siddons!

A must read for anyone who feels they are on an emotional roller coaster with their NPD mate. Book is excellent in all respects. Will help one to realize that NPD is a sickness. Reading this book will make you finally realize, it is not your fault as the abusive NPD mate has made you believe. I will always keep this book close and recommend it. Wonderful section on helping one recover and move on to a new life. Highest recommendation.
