Blade, Oregon is the home of the magical lost crater, in which a grove of giant redwood trees has remained untouched for thousands of years. Now the ancient grove has become the center a major dispute between those who wish to save this rare sanctuary and the local loggers who see Lost Crater as their last hope to rejuvenate their dying mill town. Caught up in the struggle, Kate feels compelled to learn more and decides to follow a trail into the crater, which, as legend has it, was made by the ancient Halami people believed to have once lived in the region. But for Kate, what starts out as a day's discovery soon turns into a life's journey. With the help of an ancient walking stick, Kate is thrust back in time five hundred years. Quickly befriended by a young Halami girl, Laioni, Kate learns that not much has changed in five centuries as she is caught in the middle of a battle for the same wilderness. Confronted by a myriad of strange and frightening creatures, including the trickster Kandeldandel and the evil Gashra, who is bent on destroying everything he cannot control, Kate must complete her quest and return to her own time. "I want all of you to know, without a glimmer of uncertainty, that all of our pets, and animals of every kind, live on the other side, also known as "heaven" or "the afterlife." Anyone who has ever neen around an animal for more than five minutes can see that God's amazing creatures have minds of their own, unique personalities, and, of course, souls. It goes without saying, then, that when an animal dies, its spirit goes home just like ours."

SHE WAS HIS WOMAN...

For four long years, Chama had kept his distance as the captive he called "Fire Woman" temptinigly came of age. The raven haired apache warrior had jealously guarded her from the other braves, and now that he had paid the bride-price, he would soon make her his. Tough she seemed to fear him, Chama wanted only to cherish his coppery-haired treasure, to explore her alluring innocence, to ignite her fiery passions which he knew would match his own. And so he would melt her resistance with slow, tender loving--tasting, touching and teasing his blue-eyed beauty until she would vow never to leave him.

HE WAS HER DESTINY...

Just the sight of the apache made Mary Elizabeth Abernathy's blood boil with rage--she would never wed the fierce and arrogant Chama. She tried to escape, but when the handsome, bronze-skinned brave tracked her down and captured her in his well-muscled arms, Mary Elizabeth braced herself as he prepared to take what he considered his. But instead of feeling frightened she was thrilled when he ran his fingers through her red-gold tresses, branding her silken skin with his searing touch and claiming her lips in a heated kiss. And soon the only thing she feared was her wild respone to his masterful seduction.

Wonderful Book! I couldn't hardly put it down...finished it within 24 hours. Aissa is a wonderfully strong and independent woman and survives many trials but it did upset me a little with how the men kept exploiting her, especially Shadow Hawk, and she simply forgave him. Ah well, such is the plot of a romance novel. Still, it was a great read and I enjoyed it.
