"I've read the other reviews about this book, and it seems that everyone so far has enjoyed this book and its sequel. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into this book. It seemed to drag on. In one early chapter the main character was being chased (in a chapter that just wouldn't end soon enough for me), and it was very reminiscent of a similar scene in Koontz's Odd Thomas books (I read the first 2 so far and have enjoyed them). Having liked the Odd Thomas books, I couldn't get over a very similar voice between the main character of those books and the main character in this book. Perhaps I am the "odd one" here, but I just did not get into this book."

"I struggled with this book. I understand the premise of this book, but at the same time, I just couldn't see myself in the position that the main character found himself him. Yes, I was moved during reading parts of this book, but at the same time I felt vaguely unsatisfied with it. I just didn't buy into the main characters reasons for what he did. They didn't seem believable to me. So, I would hesitatingly recommend this book."

"This was an excellent book. I couldn't wait to finish it. I found it to be a fresh, well-plotted book. The main character, Yelena, could have been a living and breathing person. In fact, I enjoyed the characterizations of all of the players in this story. Maria Snyder did an excellent job plotting this book and developing her characters. This is my favorite read of 2007! I've read Magic Study, the second in the trilogy, and while it wasn't in my opinion as good as Poison Study, it was still highly enjoyable, and I look forward to the third book, Fire Study, coming out in the spring of 2008. Bravo to Maria Snyder!!!!"

"I was surprised by this book. I wasn't really expecting anything when I picked up this book, but it was a fast past, on-your-toes book. It kept me entertained throughout."
