From the back of the book, "The sensational murder of one of charleston's most powerful citizens, real-estate tycoon Lute Pettijohn, rocks the city and gives ambitious prosecutor Hammond Cross his chance to become the city's next district attorney - if he wins the case. His investigation turns up no shortage of people who wanted Pettijohn dead. But when the prime suspect turns out to be a mysterious woman who holds the secret that can shatter Hammond's ambitions, he faces a moral dilemma and a haunting question: Was he set up to be the perfect alibi?" Sandra Brown never fails to write a great suspense story and this is one of them.
From publisher: Dr. Kay Scarpetta is up against a serial killer who targets young lovers. Four couples have disappeared, only to turn up dead months afterward ... Now a fifth pair is missing and the mother of the girl is a powerhouse recently named by the president to head his war on drugs. Scarpetta uses a microscope in her forensic lab the way Sherlock Holmes wielded a magnifying glass.
I loved this book and the two after it. I initially read Where The Wind Blows and Beach House which are the 'adult' version of this story about a group of children who have been injected in utero with bird DNA and what they will do to be free.
From the back of the book, "In the tomblike silence of an abandoned rock quarry someone is trying to hide their dirty little secret. A secret that is about to be discovered." Another great Maggie O'Dell story.
This is the first in a series about 'Flip' a 42 year old cleaning lady in a small town of Solace Glen. The story is a romance/mystery with all of the fun that a small town throws into the mix. I have read all three in the series and have enjoyed them very much.
A visit to Breakfast Island for Qwill and the cats is anything but a vacation. Accidents start occuring and a suspicious fatal boating accident have Qwill and company sticking their noses in (or should I say whiskers??)
