Contemporary Thriller by Lee Child, and another chapter in the Jack Reacher tales. We find Reacher on a tour bus, headed for Mount Rushmore, with a bunch of Seniors. The bus has an accident, in the middle of a storm, just outside of the town of Bolton. Bolton is on lock-down, and of course Reacher gets embroiled in the events. I enjoyed this book. Maybe Lee Child is slipping, because I was able to identify the Bad Guy, before the reveal. Love the book, but I was always cold when reading it.
Dahlia is a cyborg. Her job is to hunt and destroy rogue cyborgs, which she does without questioning why. During a routine physical exam, the medtech tries to kill her. Because she's pregnant. Which is bizarre, because she's not sexually active. Dahlia escapes, and now she is a rogue. This is a great story, and the beginning of a great series.
Contemporary teen fiction by John Green. Colin Singleton, former child prodigy, who has a weakness for girls named Katherine, had been dumped by Katherine XIX. This, and the fact that he is a Former Child Prodigy, with no prospects of affirming his genius, has Colin in crisis.
Colin's bff Hasan talks him into a road trip, to forget his troubles. They end up in Gutshot Tennessee, where they meet the locals, and learn a few life lessons. Along the way the boys figure out some of the things that matter in life.
Historical Erotic Romance from Samhain Publishing. Lady Colleen McGregor saves the life of an unknown, wealthy man, laying at the side of the road, drunk. If she doesn't help him, he'll die in the winter storm. She takes him home and cares for him. Colleen is a spinster who never planned on getting married. She and Sebastian are found in a compromising position, and they reluctantly marry to save her reputation. Colleen and Sebastion come to care for one another, while someone is planning on ending their lives. This is a very sweet, romantic story. Enjoyed it alot.
Paranormal romance from Dakota Cassidy. Book three is about Marty and Nina's obsessive-compulsive, list-making friend Wanda. Wanda is at the pinnacle of her Bobbie-Sue career, and gets the worst news possible: terminal illness. The timing is terrible, because she's just recruited the first male, hunkiest, successful recruit ever, Heath. Wanda decides on a hot fling, before going to meet her Maker. But, Heath, Marty and Nina have other ideas. I really liked this book, even though the ending was a little over the top. I loved the dialogue between the three best friends, when they talk about Wanda's illness, and her options. Enjoyed it.
Funny, paranormal romance by Dakota Cassidy. Marty Andrews is a hung-ho Bobbie Sue Cosmetics consultant (think Mary Kay). She's bitten by a dog one night, then hunky Keegan knocks on her door and tells her that he's a werewolf and he bit her. Being a werewolf doesn't fit into Marty's plans, not to mention her color wheel, and she thinks Keegan is a hot nutcase. This is a light, fun story. Enjoyed it.
Funny, paranormal romance by Dakota Cassidy, and second in series, after Accidental Werewolf. Nina has given up her color wheels to be a dental hygenist. On her first day on the job, she's bitten by a vampire, and turned into one of the Undead. Except, this doesn't sit too well with Nina and she searches for a way to reverse her change. Her sire Greg tries to teach Nina how to be a vampire, but Nina resists. Nina's friends Marty and Wanda also try to help. Funny book. I especially like how the author makes fun of paranormal romance novels. Nina is a huge PIA to everybody, but they stick by her. Fun book.
Paranormal romance by Dakota Cassidy, Book 4 of the Accidentally Friends series. Wanda's (Accidentally Human) little sister Casey is accidentally turned into a demon by hot vampire Clay. Havoc ensues as Casey has to get used to her Demonic tendancies. Clay is remorseful, and wants to help Casey. Wanda, and her pals Nina and Marty are on hand to explain the paranormal culture, and help out. But, there is another Demon who claims Clay, but Casey won't let that happen. I enjoyed the first three "Accidentally" stories. This one is lacking. The snippy dialogue is overdone, the plot very convoluted. I was bored with it.
Fantasy romance from Samhain Publishing. Adrienne' life is changed forever in one night. She is saved from an assault one night, by a man from another dimension, who claims that she is his soulmate..and his Queen. While the story is ambitous and entertaining, it drags in some places. I found it hard to remember all of the backgound, and various characters in the story. In the end the Heroine saves herself, and everybody lives happily ever after. Spicy romance.
Fantasy fiction by Carrie Vaughn, author of the Kitty the Werewolf series. Celia West is the only daughter of Commerce City's best known super-heroes, Captain Olympus and Spark. She is just a normal, average woman (accountant) who grew up in the shadow of her very famous parents.
Celia is selected to help prosecute the uber villian The Destructor on tax evasion. But, Celia's one youthful indiscretion comes back to haunt her. On top of this, the bad relationship she has with her parents, and a budding relationship with a cute police detective, and Celia's got her hands full.
I enjoyed this book. Celia is a heroine you can cheer for. She proves that you don't have to have super powers to be a hero.
Erotic Paranormal Romance Anthology from Changling Press. An aging actress goes to Chimera, with her personal assistant, to find her mate in an Elven Dragon King. Then, Trina goes to Chimera, just to recover from finding her boyfriend together with her best male friend. Wanting to get away from all men, she finds 3 men (with tails), who want to bond with her. My favorite story is Gloria's: Type A personality, who runs a Museum is blackmailed by her staff to take a vacation. Gloria is tough, demanding, and doesn't take any crap. She's met her match, with a God! Too funny. Good book. Steamy. Worth a credit.
Erotic Paranormal Romance Anthology from Changling Press. Three stories. Chelsea is invited to Chimera Island where she is attracted to two very different men. How can she chose between them,..and does she really have to? M/F/M menage. Then, Jamie (a guy) goes to Chimera for a break from his job as a journalist. What Jamie doesn't know is that powerful sorcerer, Nico, has chosen Jamie to be Nico's mate,..his "pet". Nico has learns that Jamie is no one's pet. Last, Talcor goes to Chimera to prove to his family and his bonded mate to be, that, per tradition he is as gay as everybody else. Knight (a girl)thinks she's gay, and is off to explore this. This is an entertaining book. Good when you are looking a light, fun read.
Erotic paranormal romance anthology from Changling Press. Three stories. The adventures of Michelle and Marissa, as they go to Chimera Island and find their supernatural true mates. Then, the continuation of Trina's story, from a previous book, when she travels to the home of her mates. The book is fair. Not as good as the previous volumes, which were more humerous. The sex scenes are scorching. The plots mediocre to fair.
This is an erotice sci-fi romance from Ellora's Cave. A race of people from another planet, have a shortage of women. And the Alcandian men can only mate with one woman. Governments on Earth have agreed to allow the Alcandians to search for mates on Earth, in exchange for technology. Jessica is discovered to be the one mate to Dylan, and his best friend Jett. She is carried away to begin an new life on their planet, as the mate to the 2 best friends, whether she wants to or not. This is the accepted way of life on Alcandia. She has to become accustomed to a new world, and a new way of life. This book is OK. Its not the best ever, but it is entertaining.
Zeva is an Alcandian woman who has purposely avoided bonding with the 2 men who are her destined mates. She wants to maintain her independance, not be dictated to, by the warriors. Zeva gets trapped on Earth, and captured, by saving her sister in law. While Zeva makes plans to escape her Earth prison, her mates are actively looking for a way to get her back, and force her to accept their bond. But there are evil individuals on Alcandia, too. This is a pretty good erotic, sci fi romance.
Erotic Sci-Fi Romance from Liquid Silver Books. Rayne is part of a group of scientists sharing information with an alien race. Through a botched, unsanctioned experiment finds Rayne mated to one of the Alcaidi. But the lovers face fear, rejection, and discrimination from both worlds. Pretty good book, good plot, lots of action. Sex scenes are steamy!
Futuristic erotic romance anthology from New Concepts Publishing. This anthology has a little bit of everything: D/s, alien abductions and shifters. My favorites of the four are by Joy Nash and Jane Toombs. Nash's story about a fledgling, ambitious opera singer who falls for her "wacko" neighbor is compelling, and has some fun lines. Then, Toombs' story about a female shifter looking for someone to love, is compelling. This collection of stories is a little more unusual than the regular futuristic stories. The sex scenes are hot, and stories compelling (except for the first one - didn't care for it). Enjoyed the book.
A good sci fi romance. Monica grew up physically underdeveloped, not know that she is part alien. Then her development begins very fast. Knowing what is happening before anyone else, the Alien Office Kellan claims her before anyone else, and Monica has no recourse. Now, everyone wants her and she doesn't want to be claimed. This is an entertaining story, with likeable characters.
Futuristic erotic romance from New Concepts: The male-warrior dominated Planet of Macedon doesn't have enough women to produce enough children to keep the planet going, so they abduct women from Earth. Simone is abducted, and cannot accept her new status as a lowly breeder. Camryn, Kael, and Ean were drawn to Simone for her spirit and determination, the very traits that they now want to squash. The Earth women are enough to change Macedon forever. I was uncomfortable with this story in the beginning, with how the women were treated, and very disappointed with the men. But, as it went on, the book felt more like a Kaitlyn O'Connor. I prefer her early Cyborg series better. But the writing is good, the story, not bad. The sex scenes are spicy, includes menage.
Evie Parrish is a divorced 41 year old Vegas Showgirl going through a mid-life crisis. All the good jobs are going to performers in their twenties..just like her former husband! She has a serious case of low self esteem when an unusual assignment comes her way. Evie is paid to be the wife of an older, distinguished man, on a honeymoon cruise. Evie decides to show everyone what she's made of. Except "Charles" isn't so old, and he thinks she's great. This is a light, fun story. First in series.
