The Blind Side is an incredibly interesting and informative book about a poor African-American's escape from poverty to being adopted by a rich, White, conservative, Southern family and heavily recruited by the top college football programs in the country. This is set against the backdrop of a changing NFL.

A real page-turner about the restaurant business from a New York chef. If you are at all interested in food or cooking then you will find this book very hard to put down. I read it in a weekend, I only put it down to sleep and do a little cooking of my own.

A general, light-hearted introduction to Latin. Most chapters also include a section about ancient Rome and a section about how English words have been derived or influenced by Latin.

I like Legend, it's a good, heroic sword and sorcery story. I intend to read more of the books in The Drenai Saga.

The basic plot is that the Nadir empire is threatening to swallow up the Drenai kingdom. A lone castle stands in the way of the Nadir horde, can it stand up against the invaders and save the Drenai people? Coming out of retirement and to the defense of the castle is Druss, a legendary warrior.

The story takes a little bit to really get cooking and the end is a bit contrived but in between it is a real page-turner.

The first half of the book is slow but it picks up when Microsoft enters the picture. Basically Microsoft contracted with IBM to make the Xbox 360 chip two years into a partnership that IBM had with Sony to make the chip for the PlayStation 3. So the authors were serving two masters as they worked to make the central microprocessor for both Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360.

Under the Black Flag: The Romance and the Reality of Life among the Pirates
Under the Black Flag: The Romance and the Reality of Life among the Pirates
Author: David Cordingly
Book Type: Paperback

'Under the Black Flag' is a thoroughly researched book about the pirates of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. Its facts are well documented with pages of footnotes and appendixes however it reads more like a novel than a dry text book. Full Review
