This is a wonderfully written book. Colt wanders through several generations talking about his family's experiences at their Cape Cod summer home. It is a book that can be picked up and put down without concern for losing the plot. Each chapter stands alone and is interesting on its own.
Book #1 of this facinating series. Set in pre-historic times. Five year old orphaned Ayla is adopted by a clan of people who are vastly different from her people. Although deeply loved by her adopted mother, other members of the Clan fear & hate her because of her differences. Ayla must try to bend to the Clan's wishes, but finds it difficult.
Excellent book about a woman's return, after nearly 20 years, to her hometown to help with the family business. A hurt has festered the entire time and has eroded her relationship with her closest relative. Multi-faceted healing takes place as they work together to save the business. And, love comes her way, as well.
I enjoyed "Gracie" -- as long as I remembered to take it "with a grain of salt". George paints a very pretty picture of their relationship. It is interesting to learn a bit about the vaudeville life. If you are familiar with vaudeville performers, you'll find it fun to be reminded of their antics and characters.
