"Lois Battle's BED & BREAKFAST is pure delight: touching and witty, sympathetic and shrewd. It's the kind of book I'll rush to tell all my friends about; it's the book I can't wait to give my mother." Quote from Nancy Thayer, author of BELONGING AND FAMILY SECRETS.
John Jakes is a great storyteller. This is a story about James Chance who dreams of becoming a rich Californian. It tells about his adventures along the way. You read about William Randolph Hearst and other powerful men of the era.
Do you remember the "Spenser for Hire" TV show? This is the author of the series or at least where the ideas for the TV series originated. It is a fast paced book with lots of action. Spenser and his partner, Hawk, are the main characters and try to find their friend, Susan who appears to be kidnapped.
I really like Harlan Coben's books. They are unpredicatable and have twists and turns that keep me wanting more. The suspense is high in this book and keeps one wanting to find out what will happen next.
Every page is suspenseful. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. Johanna Lindsey has the gift to bring romance to life in her books of the noblemen of England and Scotland. Two people do not want to be a part of the marriage mart but do not have a choice. But romance abounds and love has a way of overcoming the odds.
To me this is one of Jeffrey Archer's best books. It is a compelling story of two men who come from two very different worlds and are financial giants, They are in competition with each other long before they know it.
This is an historical romance that takes place in England, 1486. Of course, women had no choice in whom they married or anything else for that matter. The female character is willful and beautiful naturally.
This is a story about a wealthy Connecticut couple who decide to travel to the gold fields via covered wagon. The husband is unhappy working in his father's business and wants to go out into the world on his own. His wife, Maggie, finds she is the one with great inner strength. There is tragedy, excitement, beauty, disappointment and much more in this story. You never know what will happen next.
I did not not want to read this book orginially because I thought it would be too sad and heart wrenching. It takes a sad situation and makes it memorable, funny and touching. It is emotional but in a good way. Alice Sebold is a wonderful writer.
