"I liked the first book in this series, Dragon Heat just enough to give James' second book a chance. There were many things I liked about it. I like the romance and tension between Saba and Malcom (the black dragon) better then the characters in the first book. There was more tension and more conflict to their relationship. However this book seriously bogged down in the middle with the endless fight scenes between the black and white dragon. I wish the author would spend more time on the relationship between the characters and less on the fight scenes which do not end up being that interesting. I doubt I will read any more in this series."

"I really liked JR Ward's The Story of Son story in this collection. Parts of it seemed pretty discturbing but I really liked how original the idea was. The Squires story was mediocre, very similar to all of her other work. I was not familiar with Dianna Love prior to reading her story and honestly I was less then impressed. The Kenyon story was pretty good and probably very enjoyable to readers who like her other Dream Hunters novels."

"I had very high hopes for this novel but unfortunately this novel fell a little flat. Basically the story is a supernatural who-done-it. The falled angel Gabriel covertly enlist the help of Sara Michaels, a forensic pathologist whose own mother was murdered in the same way Gabriel's mistress had been 150 years ago. Although the plot was interesting and kept me turning the pages I kept wishing the romance between Sara and Gabriel would be brought to the fore front of the book. Instead it seemed to take a distant second or third to the murder mystery and their own battles with addiction and fear. Not as good as the first book in this series, 'My Immortal' but still worth a read."

"I really thought this was a great book. I had never read this author before and just found this book at a used book store by chance. I thought some parts dragged and I thought this book could have been a little shorter. I really liked the main characters and loved the steamy romance between the two. I also enjoyed the ending and hope these two characters make appearances in the next books. Definitely one of the better paranormal series out there. I would definitely recommend reading this book."

"To be honest this book frustrated me greatly. I think any horse lover will appreciate many of the insights the main character has regarding horse ownership and care but the main plot of the story seemed to drag. The main theme of this book is grief and the failure to resolve it in one's life but unfortunaltely I felt beat over the head with the same message over and over. The final tragedy at the end had little effect because I just wanted to be done with the book and especially done with the main character. I wish the book would hae focused more on her relationship with horses as I really enjoyed the parts about Twister and I felt the author did a very good jor portraying life with horses."

"Although I felt this book had a lot of promise ultimately it fell rather flat. The premise itself is fine. Ancient shape shifting dragons, called Pyr protect the earth and the humans in it from fellow evil dragons called slayers. Once during their lifetime they find their destined mate by undergoing a firestorm.
Unfortunately the plot dragged, filled with way too much action and very little interaction. The two characters ended up being very lifeless and it was hard to care whether they got together or not. The abrupt end to the main characters firestorm also seemed very anticlimactic and unsatisfying.
Honestly there is a lot better paranormal romance out there. I would say pass this series by and read something else."

"I loved Emily Gee's first novel and this one was an excellent surprise as well. Very fast paced and suspenseful. One of the better romantic fantasy novels I have read in the last few years."

"Despite some mixed reviews I picked this book up and was glad I did. It is a solidly put together romantic fantasy which combines many new elements with familar traditional themes. I do agree with many other reviewers that at times I wanted to give up on this book but I am glad I didn't. It really is a nice novel and I look forward to reading the other books in the trilogy.
I will admit that the protagonist's character's flaws are maddening and make it really hard to be sympathetic with her. In addition her seemingly inane affair with a traitor to her country (all while professing her love to some one else) is a difficult pill for the reader to easily swallow. Still I enjoyed the realistic portrayl of the stallions and enjoyed the interesting take of 'Horses as God' that this novel presents.
I would say this book is a winner despite the frustrating romantic entanglements."

"Another dissapointing effort from Frank. This series had so much potential and Jacob really is a ground breaking paranormal romance. However like the other Nightwalker books, Noah lacks excitement and any real connection between the main characters. There are interesting parts to the book and the beginning is actually quite good. However the main tension between the characters (Kestra's inability to love) seems contrived and very fake. I mean if she can read her mate's mind there can be no basis for mistrust or apprenhension. By the end of this seemingly endless book I was mostly skimming just to finish it. Hopefully Frank's up coming Shadowdweller books can breathe new life to this series because right now it is very dead."

"Although I was really excited to read this book (moved it to the top of my TBR pile) I was horribly dissapointed. The plot seemed to drag and the entire drama of the heroine's brother's crimes seemed contrived and pointless. Worst of all was the seeming lack of chemistry between the main characters. Although I appreciated the honest portrayl of class division in 19th century England it did not help the plot one bit. The heroine's previous of affair with the novel's villian only seems to portray her complete idiocy and does nothing to endear her to the reader.
I haven't read any other novels of Madeline Hunter so I am not sure if the distant characters are her "style" or if this book is just a poor example of her work."

"Another solid effort by Medeiros, one of my favorite romance authorse. I don't think it is her best work but the main characters are endearing and there is plenty of humor and realistic emotions to keep the plot moving. Honestly I sat down and read the entire book in a night because it was hard to put down once I got into it. I loved the ending and had to brush away a tear or two. Can't wait to read the sequel."

"I actually liked this book more then I expected too. I was a little worried when I first started it as the main character seemed very shallow and I originally thought she would be very hard to like. However she soon grew on me I ended up loving her wit and constant obsession with current fashion and even more current gossip. The romance between the two main characters was very touching and sweet. I also enjoyed the 'magical' aspects to this novel and I think even readers who do not normally like 'paranormal romace' will enjoy this novel. Definately worth the credit and the read."

"I am not sure I have read a novel by Jane Feather before but honestly I was quite dissapointed. To Wed... ended up being a lackluster tale of a normally sensible young woman who seemingly loses all of her sense and intelligence and weds a russian prince who she has only met four times. The prince in question is not so much wicked as callous and brutish in his treatment of Lavia and his quest to dethrone Czar Alexander. Honestly I was so upset by Lavia's non-sensical marriage and the period inappropriate euphasisms that the author kept using (ex: level the playing field) that I found it hard to enjoy the novel. Also it seemed much longer then needed. There are much better period romances out there then this one."

"Like many other reviewers I felt this book had a lot of promise but unfortunately ended up falling a bit short. There wasn't enough interaction between the characters and the majority of the book is a race between one death defying action seen to the next. The times when the authored slowed down enough to feature some interaction between Cassandra and the Senate vampires was enjoyable but all too short. All in all I will read the second book in the series in the hope the author gets a little better but this book wont be remaining on my "keeper bookshelf.""

"Probably one of the best books I've read in 2008!
Gruen's writing style makes the depression era circus come to startling life. I was hooked from the first page and felt instantly sympathetic with the main character Jacob. I loved all the crazy and at times shocking details of life on the circus train. Well written, great chracters and great plot. Of course I can't write this review without mentioning the fascinating and realistic detail given to all of the animal "characters" as well especially Rosie the bull elephant. Don't want to give anything away but the ending was fantastic. I dount you will be dissapointed if you give this book a chance."

"I picked this book up quite by chance at a library book sale and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Although it is pretty light stuff the plot and characters have a lot of charm and fun to them. I really enjoyed the world that Wisdom creates and before I knew it I was sucked into the story and furiously reading to try and figure out what exactly was wrong with the town. There are some pretty obvious plot manuevers but all in all it is a great light read. Hopefully the first two books in this series are as delightful as this one."

"I loved, loved, loved this book! Truly one of the bright stars of the paranormal genre. I picked this book up ukknowing it was number 6 of a series and now I can't wait to read the others. This book has everything a good paranormal should have: darkly tortured but totally gorgeous vampire hero meets sassy and funny heroine who is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. The only bad thing about the book was the massive emotional cliff hanger at the end. Can't wait to see how all the drama gets resolved in book 7."
