From the moment I opened this book until the time came to close it, I was fascinated with the lyrical and powerful writing of Craig Childs.

He takes the reader from mountain lion to mosquito with a skill rarely encountered in nature writing. It's all interesting!

Straightforward and knowledgeable without a hint of being pedantic, he puts you right there in his wanderings to see how animals live in their world.

I'll definitely be buying more of his books.

A book written with a dog's perspective? Yes!

Nothing about this title or its premise could earn you points with your assumptions!

This is a totally off-beat story with wonderful insight into the human heart and determination, sprinkled with humor, warmth and your own tears.

What the author was able to convey was a small miracle!

A book for children, the clever word "Bunnicula" caught my attention and that there was a cat and dog involved as well, had me quickly deciding to order and read the book. Why not? I'm retired. I have time.

The premise is that there is a vampire rabbit that mysteriously gets out of his cage every night and raids the refrigerator, draining the vegetables of their precious fluids and leaving them white as bone. Chester the cat feels he must save the household - Hey! What might the rabbit turn to next for draining?? - and with the clumsy assistance of the family dog, Harold, he makes his way in solving the crisis.

Were my children younger, I would definitely buy this first book in the Bunnicula series. It has humor and imagination spilling out of its pages in large portions. The illustrations are nicely done, too.

This is a fascinating book that answers so many common questions asked about the companion cat: "Why do cats purr?", "Why do cats keep crying to be let out and then cry to be let in again?", and "Why does a cat like being stroked?", just to name a few.

Author, Desmond Morris has surprise answers for all of us and his writing is easily read without a touch of being pedantic.
