This book lost the "ahh" factor of book one. Humor is good. This book more sexual than the first, and less engaging story line. Plan to read book 3 as maybe author will revert to first book's writing style.

The A.D.D. Hyperactivity Workbook for Parents, Teachers, and Kids
Review Date: 8/12/2008

Well written, informative and organized book. Used the info in my counseling career. Stickers, charts, etc remain in the book. Since I had many clients, I made xerox copies rather than using the book's stickers, charts, etc.

Addicted to Misery: The Other Side of Co-Dependency
Review Date: 8/12/2008

An old but relevant book for people who have struggled "successfully to alleviate profound stresses and regain manageability of their lives, eventually feel so uncomfortable and threatened by their new-found serenity that they deliberately return to their former miserable state." For people who happiness and recovery feels foreign thus return to their previous state, this is a helpful book. It is not for people who have an untreated biochemical/physiological depression causing their "misery."

"based on firsthand accounts, the book vividly describes the impressions and sensations of 'encounters of immortality', including 'out-of-body' and 'tunnel' sensations, encounters with 'angels and 'beings of light' and meetings with dead friends and relatives." "The Gallup Organization has conducted a series of full scale, nationwide surveys on beliefs and attitudes on afterlife with a special focus on those who have had a 'temporary death' experience." Good reading for those interested/believe in the afterlife.

From the back cover: "Topics discussed: The clinical presentations of and important differences between the primary, secondary and reactive alcoholisms. The unique characteristics of alcohol abuse/dependence for special populations, i.e., the fetus, the adolescent, the woman, the elderly, the physician, in regard to diagnosis, treatment and prevention. the impact of alcohol abuse/dependence on the family system with the focus on family assessment and treatment involving significant others." Very good on defining effects on the body and includes diagrams. Good resource for teaching effects on body systems, etc. Therapists may appreciate the book more than recovering alcoholics.

It's a wonderfully written, funny and creatively illustrated book about "Squib comes home from summer camp to find his older brother, Andrew, has turned into a snarly, surly, defiant, and non-communicative adolescent. Aliens explores the effect of Andrew's new behavior on Squib and the entire family unit." The book calls it "owldolescence" but anyone who has a new teen in the family ... recognizes the signs. It's a great book to help families in the "owldolescence" phase.

Appealing young Emmy Brace is a feisty researcher for a large television news department in NY city. Summarily ordered to dance attendance on her guardian/uncle, retired Judge Harry Doane (sometimes known to his colleagues during the days of his active professional life as Handsome Harry), Emmy reluctantly drives up to his elegant suburban condo on a cold winter weekend in December. She has mixed feelings about visiting the domineering judge and his beguiling young wife China, who had qualified as Emmy's best friend during their school days and shared adolescent adventures.
Emmy's temper does not improve when she arrives at the Alpine Village condo and discovers that the Judge has been covertly interfering in her career and is adamant that she give it up. Emmy is place in an embarrassing position of having to accept hospitality from a former admirer, Bar Slocumb, when her older sister Kat's guest room, where Emmy had expected to stay, turns out to be overflowing with a litter of puppies. Things do not get better when two strange murders occur at Alpine Village, and these deaths are followed by a rash of baffling, ominous incidents that raise a number of disturbing questions: Is there a connection between the killings and the news story Emmy is researching, as the judge insists? .... Caught in the crossfire of mysterious events and conflicting emotions, Emmy fights for her life, and with the help of a rediscovered old love and the indefatigable Hubie, searches for clues to unmask a killer and a villian.

I expected to thoroughly enjoy the Guild Hunter book but I did not. I found this series a 180 different from Singh's Psy-Changling series. I was very disappointed with the story line and characters. The book was choppy, the hero uni dimensional, and characters flat/uninteresting. First chapter or two held promise then the story went lame. I'm not reading any more of the series. It seems weird to thoroughly enjoy an author's series yet do not enjoy his/her other series, but then that has happened more than once in my reading experience.

Angels of Darkness: Angel's Wolf / Alphas: Origins / Nocturne / Ascension
Review Date: 10/26/2011
Helpful Score: 6

I have no idea how this book received high ratings.
1. Nalini Singh's story was very disappointing. Abrupt ending, and boring story.
2. Andrews story was a severe disappointment. I cannot believe it was written by Andrews. It was nothing like her other stories. Maybe an alien high jacked her writing?
3. Schinn had a cute story. Only positive in this book. I'm giving the book a 2 based on her story. otherwise, it rates a one.
4. Brook's story did not flow, and another poor ending.
