Elena Shapiro writes a most fascinating story about a simple square box he finds in his office. Inside are many objects left by a Parisian tenant. Who was this lady (Louise Brunet) that no one claimed her keepsakes that were inside this box? These artifacts tell the story of the box's owner, Louise Brunet, in a most captivating tale of love, passion, attraction, memory and mystery of time entwined in an enthralling novel. The book transports the reader not just to Paris but into the mysteries of the past. A most interesting read.

Monique writes a delightful story of her family, searching for her maternal and paternal family ancestors. Monique comes to America after WWII, immediately has must adapt to America and it's culture. She, with a young baby in tow, finds work to support herself and baby.
Eventually Monique meets the man of her dreams and marries. She writes of her husband's business with Luzianne, a coffee co., and her adventures in America. Monique extends herself to learn English, becomes a language teacher in the American school system. Monique and her husband eventually build a successful travel agency for European countries. Monique takes her 5 children abroad and shows them her her roots in France, and that of her ancestors in Italy. A very colorful, descriptive writing.

A moving book about love, dreams, secrecy, discouragement, disappointment, suffering, death, & forgiveness. Strout's writes of a minister's life in rural New England & enfolds each of the characteristics listed of the people in the book. Strout's writes of small-town life: the arrival of newcomers, the minister & his wife & the gossip they endure. Tyler Caskey, the minister, questions his calling of the ministry after the death of his wife. He asks himself, "Is it that his faith has left him, or is that he has left his faith?" Facing the grief, along with his pastoral duties, challenges his very being. Strout writes not only about Caskey's challenges as a minister, but about other characters in every-day-life. The book is a great read. I will read another of Elizabeth Strout's books.

This in one of the exceptional books I've thoroughly enjoyed reading. Doerr writes seeing the world through "eyes" of a blind girl, and knows much about many subjects.. His writing flows from the beginning, writing eloquently of the good, and often, of the haunting scenes of life during wartime. He writes about many people: a locksmith, a young German who struggles being a member of the Youth organization, writes about cities in Germany, Paris and throughout France. A book not to miss reading.

Review Date: 3/15/2017

Matthew Zook wants to expand his family's tack and feed store, however, there is a property dispute with the nearby construction of Starbrite, a hotel and resort. Matthew needs to contact Clayton Raber, after many years has passed. Clayton Raber ran a clock shop, and was known for his hot temper. The rumors were that Clayton had murdered his wife many years ago. His crime was believed by the Amish community, as well as other people. The deed of the feed store was missing an important part of the deed upon sale of the property of Clayton so long ago. Matthew was determined to save the expansion project for the tack and feed store, only he had to contact Clayton Raber, or someone in the Raber family for the needed information. Would he be able to contact Clayton Raber or a member of the Raber family after so much time had passed? Read this wonderfully story written of love, mystery and challenges of the characters in the book. An excellent read.

An enjoyable read, not the usual theme of Amish life. This book takes the reader to Switzerland on an hunting adventure for evidence. Daniel, a Mennonite scholar, urges Ada to help in the search of written letters for evidence relating to the location of the waterfall location.. Ada and her aunt travel to Switzerland in search of this evidence knowing two families, the Sommer's and the Kessler's, have a rift regarding the past history of the waterfall location. Ada, along with some others, search to find written documents that will save the waterfall from being destroyed, and for a housing development to be built on the site. A great read.

Both the young son and the father wonder about each other during the years that pass in their separation. The father had fallen upon challenging circumstances, felt helpless after he abandoned his son. His son questions why his father deserted him. Read the story for the ending. A great story.
