Woods's breezy and irreverent brand of detective fiction, full of mischievous asides, plays especially well as audio drama. He's in top form here, having returned to his popular hero, Stone Barrington, a retired cop-turned-investigator who works in tandem with his ex-partner, Dino Bacchetti. Barrington, a lady-killer, is the ultimate smoothy, while Bacchetti, streetwise and jaded, is a rough diamond. Together, the two track a killer on a wanton Manhattan murder spree. He's left a trail of beautiful women with their throats slashed. What's more, the killer is waging a personal vendetta against the investigators, holding a grudge from a long-ago case they worked. Barrington, ever the flirt, gleans essential knowledge by wooing well-placed ladies along the way: amorous hijinks play against murderous mayhem. Narrating is veteran Broadway actor Roberts (he has read several previous Woods titles for Harper Audio), who spiritedly pushes his characterizations to the hilt. Not a man to dwell on the past, Stone has no choice but to rattle old skeletons when the people closest to him start dying, and he has little to go on but the suspicion that the killer may be someone he once knew.The trip down memory lane isnt all bad though, for it reunites Stone with his ex-partner Dio now head of the detectives in the 19th precinct.

One things for sure -- when Stone Barrington and an old flame meet....someone, somewhere is sure to be murdered! Run, Stone, run!

Excellent reading, excellent author.

This is a Stone Barrington book, and is excellent. Stone and his old partner, Dino, are up against a killer bent of revenge from the past. But who is it? How far will he go? It keeps you guessing from the first page to the last.

Got this as a Christmas gift in a grab one year. He is actually one of my favorite authors now! Stone Barrington is a man that you want to meet! LOL He is sassy and funny and you can't help but fall in love with him and his story.

The people closest to Stone Barrington are being killed and he teams with his ex-partner Dino Bacchetti to find out who. Very Good book
