What can I say, other than that John Grogan's book, "Marley & Me", will surely have every dog owner laughing their way through the pages of this book, wondering if he was somehow able to peer into their homes and write about the antics and adventures of their own dogs. A thoroughly enjoyable, sweet and charming read that no dog lover should miss!!

I recently lost my yellow labrador retriever of 14 years. I still terribly miss our "Finley"; our wonderful perfect yellow labrador retriever. Even writing this my eyes start tearing. The picture on the cover of "Marley and Me" enticed me into reading a book about a dog. I had not even heard about this book or the upcoming movie. I am so glad I read this book, and I am even more thankful to the author, John Grogan, for writing it. The author beautifully chronicles a dog's life with his beloved owners. The unconditional love flows throughout the story. The ups and downs of dog ownership, especially with Labs, makes you laugh and giggle with every turn of the page. Though my Lab was the well behaved gentleman Lab, never doing anything wrong, I still connected with Grogan's description of the "looks" and the wagging tail of his dog, Marley. The first 200 pages give anyone a superb realization of what life with a dog is all about, especially a Lab with boundless energy. Get a box of Kleenex for the last chapters of the book. I sobbed and sobbed, crying my eyes out, and was still a mess the next day. If you love dogs, you MUST read this book.

This is absolutely the best book i've had the opportunity to read in a long time. One worth writing a review for, thats for sure. The movie just came out in the theater not to long ago, but the book is fantastic. I laughed and cried and have told everyone who loves dogs that you've got to read this book and or see the movie. Make sure to take hankies with you though, you'll need them for all the laughing you'll do so hard it will make you cry. And then of course for the tears that you'll shed if you are a real true dog lover. This was so well written. My hats off to John Grogan.

Marley, you really tugged at my heart strings boy!! A surprise awaits you around every corner with this four legged beast around. Don't let this book slip past you.

"Marley & Me" is everything a book should be. At times I found myself gasping for breath after laughing so hard, at other times I found myself crying into my dog's, Ellie, fur. The book has some slow parts but over all it flows very smoothly. I feel in love with the Grogan family, especially Marley, and in a way it drew me closer to Ellie (if it was possible to be closer that is.)
This book is great for everyone, Pet Owner or Not, but I really believe that Pet Owners appreciate it just a little bit more.

This was such a GREAT book! It was a little long for my son to read by himself so I would read 1 or 2 chapters a night. Pretty soon the whole family was listening to story time. We laughed, we cried, we laughed some more. It was a borrowed book we read but since then we have decided to add it to our own collection. A must read for dog lovers or anyone else who wants to hear the tale of a pup who runs the household.

A True story, one of the reasons I chose to read it the other is because its a story that involved an animal. I love animal storys. It was fun to read this book my best friend has a lab that looks just like the real marley in the pictures. His name is "Finn" and he is just as bad yet we still love him. I actually had tears when I read the end of the book the first thats ever happened to me.

It really didn't grab me. I read probably 50 pages of it and I can see where it would probably make a cute movie. It has some great and sweet stories about the love between a couple and their dog. In the end, it just didn't grab me so I moved on to something better.

I was interested in reading this book, only because I recently got a puppy, he is now only 5 months old. I am a lover of all things Bob Marley, so of course, I named my puppy Marley, after Bob Marley. So many people had been telling me to read this book because of the crazy things the dog did, and the fact that this dog and mine, shared the same name. So I did. First, I was really surprised to find the reason his owners called him Marley, you wouldn't believe why... I guess we were thinking fairly the same. Anyways, I couldn't help but laugh, and laugh, and laugh at the crazy things this dog did. It was amazing, because he reminds me of all the things my dog does and puts me through, keep in mind that mine is only 5 months old.

This book was awesome, making you laugh and cry with the family as they recall the life of their beloved dog Marley.

Anyone who loves or has loved a pet that was more than a pet will love this book. It reminded me how much I love my "fur babies" and that I should never take them, or their love, for granted. My only recommendation is that you make sure you have plenty of tissues because this book will bring you to tears, from laughter and sadness.

How many of us get a dog as "practice" before trying to have kids, wanting to make sure we can successfully care for another living thing (and keep it alive) before taking on the ultimate adult responsibility of parenthood? John Grogan's extremely personal, heartfelt, and openly honest book perfectly explores the ups, downs, heartbreaks, failures, and joys experienced on the road to parenthood and most especially how our beloved dogs, well-behaved or like Marley, enrich the process and sustain us on the journey with their loyalty, empathy, and love.

This book is the ultimate love letter to our pets, how they help us develop into the parents, and people, we become, and how they enrich all of the relationships in our lives. While I know it sounds trite, you will laugh, you will cry, and you will hug your dog for dear life during the course of reading this book.

I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did. The author is a very funny writer. At times, I laughed out loud and I'm not even a big dog lover. if anything, this has made me even more leery of getting a dog!

I listened to this on a 4 hr car ride, and loved it. Made me laugh and cry and gain respect for the author. Money well spent. Some language and sexual references, though.

An entertaining and quick read. Heartwarming story of a young family and their beloved pet, from puppyhood to old age. Anyone who has ever had a dog can relate to this story and Marley's antics.

What a sweet, sweet story. I think anybody who has ever owned and loved a dog can relate to this story. We have a Lab and some of the adventures of Marley definitely resonated with me. Very touching and I sobbed as much from the book as I did from the movie.
