Based on the author's own childhood this book is interesting on several levels. First of all it is humorous, enjoyable, heart touching story. Next - it takes a good look at the problems of child immigrants to the USA. And third - the problems and how they are handled provides relevant interest for all.

good book
A ten-year-old Chinese girl, Bandit Wong, emigrates to America [in 1947] and assimilates into the Chinese-American Shirley Temple Wong. After earning the friendship of the toughest girl in the class, she is included in the playground stickball games and becomes a loyal fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
