Book Reviews of Stroke of Midnight

I had a really hard time with all of the stories in this anthology.

The Sherrilyn Kenyon story had very little character development and I found it difficult to follow.

The Amanda Ashley story didn't have enough detail until almost the end - it was almost as if the author had a "hey better tie this all together now" moment.

The L.A. Banks story confused me with the switching between indian legend/healing and the vampire references and I HATED the ending.

The Lori Handeland story needed more character development. Yes I know it's a short story but still...

is it just me or do the L.A Banks stories remind anyone else of Casablanca?? Always a not so happy ending, they should come with a label.

Loved the Kenyon story, I had run across Dante and Pandora in other of her books so I was happy to finally read it.
Lori Handeland gives a good story of skinwalkers and afraid to commit Jager-Suchers agents. Also known as special forces for the paranormal. And the last story is a period piece from Amanda Ashley regarding a cursed Lord who is a werewolf and he takes hostage the daughter of the man whose witch cursed him.

The L.A. Banks story is well written enough to make the entire book worth ordering, all on its own...and DESPITE the typically silly writing by the other authors. The characters are believable, interesting, and complex - neither totally good, nor totally evil, and the ending isn't the storybook happy one we often expect. This was good enough writing to make me put other books by this author on my wish list.

However, Kenyon's story of an Arcadian panther was exceptionally insipid...even more so than some of the author's other more readable, but typically poorly executed tripe. And, hey, I even like a couple of her books - but I have no illusions about her being a "great writer" - but THIS story is just painfully bad...my eyes still haven't recovered from all the rolling heavenward. Ugh.

All the stories in this book were amazing. It actually made me want to read other book by these authors. I was very happy with this read and would recommend to everyone looking for a Paranormal Romance book.

Anthology by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Amanda Ashley, L.A. Banks and Lori Handeland. Banks story is part of the Vampire Huntress series. Kenyon's story is a were-panther genre. Handeland and Ashley's stories are both in the were/skinwalker genre.

All the stories are the quality you would expect of these authors.

four interesting storylines. Of course, I liked Kenyon's the best. Worth the read.

Four short stories. 1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon. An interesting, but weak, look into the Dark Hunter universe. Not one of her better efforts. 2)by Amanda Ashley. Medieval setting, more historical romance than supernatural. 3)by L. A. Banks. Best of the four. Contemporary setting, strong, well-written. This story alone makes the book worth it. 4) by Lori Handeland. Second best story in the book. Contemporary setting, good blend of romance and suspense.

Winter Born by Sherrilyn Kenyon is a Dark-Hunter novella.
Make it Last Forever by L.A. Banks is a poignant story about a tough young man who finds his place in the world with the help of a 18 yr old girl, who can't escape her evil fate.
I found Born of the Night by Amanda Ashley just okay and Red Moon Rising by Lori Handeland was boring.

Good read.

I have to be honest and say this was probably one of the most disappointing paranormal anthologies I have read to date. In my opinion, A.Ashleys' period piece had the most character depth and a few sparks sizzled in the Kenyon story, but I found myself skimming through the rest of the stories just to finish it up.

This book contains 4 short paranormal stories. I admit that I got it for Kenyon story since I follow the Dark Hunter series. I enjoyed reading about Dante and Pandora. I have read other books and stories by Amanda Ashley - her story was okay, not great - but it had you invested in her characters. The Lori Handeland story was good too. I enjoyed it - and I think that I will look into her other books to try them out. I did not read the Banks story - I find that I don't like her writing. I recommend trying these nice bite size stories out!

Great Kenyon story.

I loved Dante & Pandora's story. I just LOVE Sherrilyn Kenyon's work.

THIS ANTHOLOGY IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OUT THERE FOLKS. LET READ IT AGAIN.

Four great stories all good reads though the third is a little slow and seemed to me a bit dis-jointed("Make It Last Forever). but still enjoyable. I especially liket the last story(Red Moon Rising). I think you will too!

I didn't care for the L.A. Banks story. I don't like her writing style at all.

A good book but the shortened format requires the reader to be understanding of lack of background development. I loved the first novella, but the third just irritated me, as I really thought it would have a different ending.

Four of the most creative stories on vampires, shapeshifters, and werewolves. The book was of passion and forbidden desire.
