It's hard to be brave when you feel the gods have turned their faces from you. Keladry of Mindelan has finally achieved her lifelong dream of eight a knight. But its not turning out as she imagined at all. With the land of Tortall at war with the Scanrans, she has been assigned to oversee a refugee camp. Not only that, but Kel has had a vision in the Chamber--a vision of the man behind the horrific battle machines tat her fellow knights and friends are now fighting without her. She is torn between a duty she has sworn and a quest that she feels could turn the tide of the war.

Pierce is a wonderful author, and the conclusion to this series is no exception. There is a lot of action as well as some laughs and moments where Kel's kindness cannot fail to inspire. A wonderful story!
A very good climax to an excellent series by Tamora Pierce.

Fourth and final book in the Protector of the Small series. If you haven't read any of Tamora Pierce's work, this series is the place to start.
