I couldn't put this book down - especially the parts that took place 33 centuries ago in ancient Egypt.

I've been fascinated by Ancient Egypt for years, and I like a good thriller/mystery; so in essence, this book was almost custom made for me. While it had a great premise, it fell short. I had trouble getting into the characters, both the present set and the ancient set. They had detail, but weren’t relatable and seemed distant. Halfway through I found myself wondering when the suspense was going to start. Thurston does know her Egyptology, I will give her that. I very much enjoyed all the historical details, but they were so heavy and flooded the text that they detracted from the actual story.

Two/two and a half stars out of five.
