Who Moved My Cheese? is a sweet analogy about four different personality types and the process of acceptance. The story is designed to make the reader think about which personality type they fall under (Sniff, Scurry, Hem or Haw)and what kind of results each type received. It packed a lot of punch for such a short story!
I loved the tidbits of advice that were 'written on the wall' along the way:
Change Happens-They Keep Moving The Cheese
Anticipate Change-Get Ready For The Cheese To Move
Monitor Change-Smell The Cheese Often So You Know When It Is Getting Old
Adapt To Change Quickly-The Quicker You Let Go Of Old Cheese, The Sooner You Can Enjoy New Cheese
Change-Move With The Cheese
Enjoy Change!-Savor The Adventure And Enjoy The Taste Of New Cheese!
Be Ready To Change Quickly And Enjoy It Again & Again!-They Keep Moving The Cheese
Every once in a while a tiny gem appears and this book is one of them.

Change can be a blessing or a curse, depending on your perspective. The message of Who Moved My Cheese? is that all can come to see it as a blessing, if they understand the nature of cheese and the role it plays in their lives. Who Moved My Cheese? is a parable that takes place in a maze. Four beings live in that maze: Sniff and Scurry are mice--nonanalytical and nonjudgmental, they just want cheese and are willing to do whatever it takes to get it. Hem and Haw are "littlepeople," mouse-size humans who have an entirely different relationship with cheese. It's not just sustenance to them; it's their self-image. Their lives and belief systems are built around the cheese they've found. Most of us reading the story will see the cheese as something related to our livelihoods--our jobs, our career paths, the industries we work in--although it can stand for anything, from health to relationships. The point of the story is that we have to be alert to changes in the cheese, and be prepared to go running off in search of new sources of cheese when the cheese we have runs out.

Change is inevitable. Anyone who is having trouble digesting that statement would do well to read this point. The book's analogies may seem a bit juvenile, but sometimes the simplest way to explain things is simply the best way.
Personally, this book changed my outlook on life and how I handled things being thrown my way, forcing me to see the futility of fighting something far beyond my control.
If something in your life is about to change and you're hesitant about the situation, dedicate the one hour to read this book cover to cover. It is completely worth it.

Amazing little book! Well worth reading! The "lessons" / ideas about how to deal with changes learned from these mice are ones that are really PROFOUND and once reflected upon give much food for thought, and , hopefully, for CHANGE !! GREAT BOOK ! QUICK READING !

One of my favorite books. It's a very quick and easy read, packed full of lessons that we can and should apply in life. Highly recommend this book, especially to those who are going through involuntary change in life, whether it's career, relationship, health.

This is a very quick read, but a really great book. It uses easy to understand and relate to examples in real life to compare how we react to change at work. We bought copies of this for all our employees and it was a hit.

Easy, quick read. I didn't love it; it just seemed odd having the main characters be mice and people. I think it could've been written better, but it had some good mantras.

I know that this book was distributed in hundreds of companies to their employees as a moral booster, and that (According to the prologue) it has changed lives, but I found the "Story" of two mice and two little people named "Hem and Haw" to be annoying. I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know (As far as accepting change and moving on in life after a major change). I was sorry I wasted a PBS credit on this one!

"Sometimes we may act like
Sniff who sniffs out change early, or
Scurry who scurries into action, or
Hem who denies and resists change as he fears it will lead to something worse, or
Haw who learns to adapt in time when he sees changing leads to something better!
Whatever parts of us we choose to use we all share something in common. A need to find our way in the maze and succeed in changing times."
This is a quick read; a fun book that hits the target in explaining on we react differently to change and provides guidance on how to accept change.......In this changing world, I recommend it highly, to be read as a business book or for your personal life.

I read this book on the advice of my supervisor who raved about it. To say that I was disappointed was a huge understatement. Trying to make sense of the whole thing and stay awake was a significant challenge. Although many people have hailed this book as the new coming of personal time and work management as well as a life philosophy, I found it extremely boring and personally useless. I have read thousands of books in my life and this is one of the two worst books that I have ever read.

We were required to read this book at my last job. It gave me great insight for how I cope with problems in my work and life and it also helped me identify why my co-workers did certain things when faced with a problem. I'd recommend this book.

What a great book! It's a very quick read and can be applied to any change anyone may be facing (job, relationship, home, etc.). It is one long metaphor to how different personalities handle change (when someone "moves their cheese") and what things are effective and what things hold us back. I recommend this to everyone!

This is a quick read...not many changes. By using analogies of the mouse and cheese, it demonstates the best way we can deal with changes and stress in our lives. Very helpful suggestions of coping if you're going thru marriage or job problems.

This was a cute little story and was a very quick read but people can definitely relate to it. I would tell exactly which character I am like and also see what character I SHOULD be like. I could see each of my co-workers in this story too. I think everyone should read this book becuase it gives you a new perspective that is useful in all situations, ie work, home & relationships.

It's a simplistic story told in an almost child-like "fable" style, but it's surprisingly good and effective. A great little (and I do mean LITTLE) book for all of us who have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into any change.
