The second book in J.D. Robb's "...IN DEATH" series, following NAKED IN DEATH, is another winner. The thing I love the most about this series, besides the awesome, fully-developed characters, is the fact that the mystery is ALWAYS thrilling and realistic.
This time around, popular, well-known, outspoken women are being murdered - their throats viciously slashed. As Eve works to discover the true killer, she also finds family secrets, devious reporters, and new friends in strange places.
GLORY IN DEATH features the first appearance of Peabody, a larger role for Nadine Furst, and the first glimpse into what Eve's childhood really entailed.
I'm absolutely LOVING rediscovering my favorite romantic suspense series of all time!!

Book # 2 of the In Death Series by JD Robb/Nora Roberts.
Strong and successful but seemingly unconnected women are being killed all over the city. Dallas is strong and successful - will she be a target?
Other milestones in this book: Roarke, Eve's new richer-than-god sweet patootie starts to pressure his cop into a more permanent and exclusive arrangement. The man who knows she likes coffee even better than diamonds knows what he wants and just how to get it.
Eve Dallas meets Crack, the enormous gleaming black bouncer with the honeyed jive talk who runs the Down & Dirty club for the first time. Its a kick to see characters that make it all the way to the latest novels just starting their relationship with our Heroine.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think Peabody, Dallas' assistant and eventual partner, makes her first appearance in the next book in the series, #3 Immortal In Death.

J.D Robb's In Death books are essentially murder mysteries in a futuristic setting, with a touch of romance mixed in. The first in the series, Naked In Death, introduces Eve Dallas, a homicide detective in New York.
In this, the second book, she is solving the murders of several women in prominent social positions. This mystery is frankly not that mysterious--I knew who the killer after about 100 pages and was just waiting for the peices to fall into place. It's not boring, however. In addition to the police drama, Eve's relationship with Roarke continues to progress. Overall, it's a fairly good book and a very entertaining series.
This was a great follow up from the original. Glory picks up where Naked left off. However, anyone could enjoy the story without having read the first one. Great murder story and heartfelt friendship development. The futuristic backdrop is refreshing and imaginative. Enjoy!!

The first 3 books of this series are my favorites. I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.
The second in the J.D. Robb series involving Rourke and Eve. As usual, Nora Roberts wrote a compelling story. Eve tries to solve several murders while getting more deeply involved emotionally with Rourke. I really enjoy this series.

Another great book about Eve Dallas. Futuristic book with droids and advanced communication networks for the police. This is a great series that I recommend. Some romance, but not heavy.

The first victim was found lying on a sidewalk in the rain. The second was murdered in her own apartment building. Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas had no problem finding connections between the two crimes. Both victims were beautiful and highly successful women. Their glamorous lives and loves were the talk of the city. And their intimate relations with men of great power and wealth provided Eve with a long list of suspects including her own lover, Roarke. As a woman, Eve was compelled to trust the man who shared her bed. But as a cop, it was her job to follow every lead... to investigate every scandalous rumor... to explore every secret passion, no matter how dark. Or how dangerous...
this is the second book in the 'in death series'. while it was not as good as the first, it was still a great book. eve finds herself face to face with a murderer who is killing successful woman. the killer makes this case personal, which makes it hard for eve to focus. while i figured out who the killer was early, robb makes it a point to add in twists that make you rethink your choice. this, so far, has been one of the greatest suspense series i have read.

All of the 'In Death' books are great.
Very strong addition to this series. I liked the progression of Eve and Roarke's relationship and the grit and complexity of the case. Much better than anything she writes as Nora Roberts.

I enjoyed this second book in the series except I think the male/female relationship has a sado-masochistic quality. They are mean to each other. I also do not like the unnecessary profanity that is used frequently.

I was completely off on who the murder was. I didn't think it was the person the police was pursuing but I also didn't click on it being the eventual guilty party until the police were clicking on them as well. I was surprised but I probably shouldn't have been; looking back I can see the hints and the little bits of information
The J.D. Robb series is the best!

Prosecuting Attorney Cicely Towers, a powerful, talented professional, is found dead, throat slashed, in a sleazy part of town. Eve is called in as primary to work the case. Then a second victim turns up. A beautiful, up-and-coming TV actress is found murdered, throat cut, on the rear patio of her apartment building. Eve is again called in -same MO, most probably the same killer. Unfortunately, both victims were involved with Roarke in the past. Obviously this development causes friction in their growing relationship - a relationship which is also stressed by Eve's discomfort with Roark's world of wealth, power and the "beautiful people." Then there's the additional pressure of knowing that another murder will probably take place unless the case is solved ASAP.
Great Read!

In most on-line romance reading communities, Rourke has been voted time and again as the favorite romantic hero, and now I finally know why. He's strong and tender, dominant but understanding....I just wish I liked Eve as much...
The mystery, like "Naked in Death", wasn't that interesting and didn't really convince me that Eve's as good a cop as she seems to think she is. Arresting someone based on circumstantial evidence seems like a mistake no one living in 2058 should be capable of making. In my opinion, this book is much better if you go in looking for romance rather than a satisfying mystery or thriller.
