I didn't finish this book. I find I'm getting really tired of Roberts. She doesn't seem to have any new ideas, so she just makes her characters the richest, the most powerful, the most famous, the smartest, etc. I find it impossible to believe that one person is the richest man in the world, runs a huge multi-national company, knows all his employees personally, knows how to pick locks, can crack any safe or any computer system in no time at all, etc., etc., etc.--so that he knows how to do whatever it is his wife needs done AND he can drop everything to help her at any time--Roberts strangles my suspension of disbelief.

This is one of my favorite series. Everything about these books are great. They are set in the future, they have the richest man in the world, Eve Dallas a terrific dective and all the characters are so real you begin to think you actually know them.

This is the 17th book in the slightly futuristic series of Lt. Eve Dallas of the NYPD. Dallas scrambles to find a serial killer whose murders are staged to imitate those of previous famous serial killers.
If you have liked other books of this series, you will like this one.

Boon #17 in J.D. Robb's In Death Series. What can I say? It is a "Must Read" for Nora Roberts fans.

I love all of Nora Roberts books, as herself, and as J.D. Robb. These futuristic thrillers add a new spin to the thriller theme. Great read.

I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.

Another excellent book by the master of the "who dunits". Eve is at her peak and Peabody is coming along quite nicely as they work to solve the mimic of historic murderers. Kept me guessing until the end(which is what I like). Roark and McNabb are there to help them out.

Set in the Summer of 2059, Lt. Eve Dallas becomes entangled in the deadly game of a vicious copycat killer.

A book in the futuristic series. Lt. Eve Dallas becomes entagled in the deadly mind game of a vicious copycat killer... Summer 2059. A man wearing a cap and a top hat approaches a prositute on a dark New York City street. Minutes later, the woman is dead. Left at the scene is a letter addressed to Lt. Eve Dalls, inviting her to play his game and unveil his identity. He signs it "Jack".

Eve tries to find out which high profile citizen is coping past high profile serial killers, like Jack the Ripper.

Steve P. (Hokieman76) reviewed on 3/12/2007...

The novel takes place in the year 2059 and concerns a serial killer who knows his history. He has decided that killing LT. Eve Dallas will make him as famous as the original Jack the Ripper.

Ruth A. reviewed on 11/26/2006...

Gritty, fast-paced, well plotted, tight. Typical Robb, futuristic.

Janice W. reviewed on 10/22/2006...

Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas encounters one of her most difficult cases in this latest offering from J. D. Robb, alter ego of bestselling author Nora Roberts. With the very first victim, Eve realizes that the killer stalking the streets of New York City isn't a run-of-the-mill serial murderer. The copycat executions are imitating the methods and victim choices of an ominous list of notorious serial killers, beginning with Jack the Ripper. And when the killer leaves a distinctive note at the crime scene, it's clear that he's targeting Eve personally--a fact that worries Roarke, Eve's shrewd husband.
Assisted by her aide, Peabody, Eve compiles a list of suspects that includes several high-profile possibilities. Their very prominence, however, complicates the investigation, for they have the power and influence to make the search difficult. All of the suspects are reluctant to cooperate but one of them is playing with Eve like a cat with a mouse by tempting her with crime scene notes and challenging her to find him. Can Eve stop him before he slaughters again? Or will his next victim be Eve herself?

Author Robb, a.k.a. Roberts, doesn't miss a beat in this police procedural thriller. The futuristic setting is rich with imaginative details; the cast of supporting characters offers an intriguing variety, while Eve and Roarke's relationship is layered with emotional intimacy and spiced with sex. Whether you're a faithful follower or new to the series, you won't be disappointed in the edge-of-the-seat suspense in Imitation In Death. Don't miss this one.

Nora Roberts is the author of ths book, writing under her pseudonym J. D. Robb. The story takes place in 2059, and Lieutenant Eve Dallas is after a serial killer who plans to mimic the most infamous murderers of all time, starting with Jack the Ripper...

A series of books written by Nora Roberts under the pen name of JD Robb. The year is 2059 and Eve Dallas, police officer is trying to find a Jack the Ripper type serial murderer. I really enjoyed this book, it is exciting and fun with the futuristic twists

#17 in the series - so there's a bit of thematic repetition but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment. It's a good read. The give/take of the relationships, the humour, and the fast pace are all here.
