Hilarious! This is the second in the Undead series and I found it much funnier than the first (if that's even possible!!). Betsy is trying to balance her new undead life, solve a mystery, manage her new job and Sinclair. Good fun!

From Booklist: "Queen Elizabeth I, aka Betsy Taylor, is adjusting to life after death as a vampire, but she still needs a job. To satisfy her lust for sexy shoes, she lands one in Macy's, but one night she is attacked by zit-remedy-scented slayers who are targeting female vampires. While trying to find out who is behind the plot, she befriends an adolescent gang called the Blade Warriors and the kindly priest who leads them. Betsy's unwanted consort, sexy Eric Sinclair, king of the vampires, doesn't know how to deal with a vampire queen who sneezes at holy water and wears a cross around her neck, and a charming subplot involving a mysterious five-year-old girl in saddle shoes adds poignancy to this wickedly clever and amusing romp. Davidson's witty dialogue, fast pacing, smart plotting, laugh-out-loud humor, and sexy relationships make this a joy to read. And Betsy's second adventure...will have readers begging for more." 2nd book in series. Can't wait to read the other ones. I did see somewhere, where there are at least 8 books in this series. Can't wait to read them all. I do have #3 in route to me and then have #4 here too. I will repost them for other members once I read them. They are a great, fun read.

You read this book about vampires and see a whole new set of rules for them. I often wonder if MaryJanice Davidson has a shoe fetish she takes out on her Betsy character. This series is a light read, I think overpriced when in hardcover with large print, and a short FUNNY story inside.

What a fun read. Second in the Undead series and better than the first one. These books are just fun. Betsy the Vampire Queen and Sinclair the Vamp King and a riot in their love/hate relationship. And the troubles the unwilling Queen can get herself into are a riot. Just good fun, fast reading. Carol

Like Stephanie Plum in the vampire world. Betsy Taylor is one kickin' vamp. Really cute, and you'll get wrapped up in her world, even if the character development is a little on the shallow side. Truthfully, the whole book is a little on the shallow side, but who cares! Lots of fun.

I absolutely love this series. I stumbled upon the first book by accident and was immediately hooked. I just checked out the latest one (Undead and Unworthy) from the library and read it all in one sitting! Although this is the 2nd in the series, it does recap the important points from the first book--so even new readers can jump right into this book! I also laughed out loud--several times--while reading this book (and all the others). I have yet to read a bad "Undead and..."

Yeah, Betsy has really developed in this second book. Love, love LOVE Sinclair. I want a Sinclair of my own. Several of the reviews "dis" Betsy because she is so shallow, but I'm not looking for a best friend, just someone fun to read about. I've read the whole series now and like Betsy more and more with each book. Her character develops a little more with each book and she becomes less shallow and more responsible. She never looses her edge though. I love the author's put downs and the really annoying characters that make me laugh, like The Ant.

I like the funny spin on vampires. But I find Betsy annoying. She's too much like a cartoon. In fact everyone is that way in these books. It's like reading a sit com. It's cute and I can truly see the appeal. It's just not for me. The book is a fun, easy read.

This was a quick entertaining read. I am more of a fan of a few other vampire based books but the humor itself was entertaining enough to keep me interested in the book. This was the first book I've read in the series and by MaryJanice Davidson and I found that I was more interested in the other characters that in Betsy herself.

Cute, but seems to read a lot like the first one in the series. (Might not help that I read them only days apart). The premise in the first one was more intriguing - since it was mostly her adapting. She's still adapting - but now her attitute/behavior is starting to grate to me. (But then again - I am a different personality than her - so can't relate)

the 2nd in a series of hilarious novels about the adventures of Betsey Taylor, the unwitting queen of vampires. Newly undead and newly queen , in this book we find Betsey at her first job at Macy's. She is unwilling to give up her shoe fetish and doesn't understand the boring life of a vampire. If you liked "Devil wears Prada" "The second Assistant" You would like this series for the plucky heroin, Betsey Taylor. See also the "Shopaholic" Series, a similar, but less well written series.

Second book in this series:

From back cover:

Nothing can make Betsy Taylor give up her shoe fetish--even dying and rising as the new Queen of the Vampires. Being royally undead isn't all it's cracked up to be--there are still bills to be paid. And Betsy is determined to live as normally as possible, even if it means getting a job. A "feet" she accomplishes with panache, landing her dream job selling designer shoes at Macy's.

Things couldn't be better--except for her new friends, who keep pestering her while she's on the clock. As if she has time to socialize when there are deliciously sinful shoes to try on--and buy at a discount. It seems that vampires are being murdered in St. Paul, and they're all clamoring for Betsy to do something about it. The worst part is she's going to have to enlist the help of the one vamp who makes her blood boil: the oh-so-sexy Sinclair. Now, she's really treading on dangerous ground--high heels and all...

Having enjoyed Undead and Unwed I was looking forward to this one. I am slightly disappointed. The storyline and Betsy’s quips are very funny, but after awhile you come to realize that Betsy is truly the “dumb” smart assed blonde. I guess that is the appeal for the story but it I think it gets old and wonder how long this can carry out into a series. I sure it could go on and on, but I don’t know how long it would keep my attention.

This is the second book that should be read after the first one since it helps to know Betsy's transformation into the Queen of the Undead and how she deals with it. In this book, Betsy has a job at Macy's, selling designer shoes. Because she has a shoe fetish, this is her dream job. The only problem is her vampire friends who keep pulling at her to help solve the murders of vampires around town. Catherine Spangler, author and critic, describes this book as, "Chick lit meets vampire action in this creative, sophisticated, sexy, and wonderfully witty book." There is a sexy undertone since Betsy becomes smitten with Sinclair, a much older vampire who she met in the first book. But she keeps him away with her words. In this book, Sinclair helps Betsy hunt down the vampire killers. I didn't find this book "a wonderfully witty book" as I've read much funnier books but it was humorous enough to keep reading. Betsy has grown much as a character from her first appearance in the 1st book. If you take this as a lighthearted and humorous read, then you may probably get through it in one night.

Another funny read. I liked this a little better than Undead and Unwed. Betsy has settled into her role of the Queen of the Vampires a bit more, though still not completely, and she's still learning new things about herself in the process. She's still trying to deny her attraction to the gorgeous Sinclair, but does wind up having another sexual interlude with him later in the book. :)

This second installment in the Undead series adds a bit of murder mystery to the whole vampire twist, which I believe adds more to the book and story itself. A group of vigilantes is going around staking vampires, and Betsy is on the hit list! Soon enough, the vigilante group is discovered but who's their anonymous donor, sending them the money and weapons to do their dirty work?

From the back cover "Nothing can make Betsy Taylor give up her shoe fetish-even dying and rising as the new Queen of the Vampires...."

MaryJanice Davidson is a clever romance writer and when she throws in a little paranormal element..well you have wonderful read! I loved her humor in the book, the sarcasm, just all the witty little things thrown in. This is the second book in her vampire series and I will be happy to send it to you if you like.
