This was the first book I read by this author. I enjoyed the suspense of the book. Looking forward to reading the rest of the books.

I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.

I don't really review books, but I have read all the In Death series up to this book and I love them all but I have to say that to date this has been the best one.
I enjoyed this one. A bit different from the usual Eve Dallas. Maybe children are in the future! A hope anyway.

Great book, interesting action. Futuristic - I wouldn't think I would enjoy this book but I really liked it. I want to read the series now.
No affairs. No crimianl connections. No DNA. No clues. Eve Dallas may be the best cop in the city-not to mention having the lavish resources of her husband, Roarke, at her disposal-but the Swisher cas has her baffled. The family members were murdered in their beds with brutal, military precision. The state-of-the-art security was breached, and the killers used night vision equipment to find their way through the upper middle-class house. Clearly, Dallas is dealingw ith the pros. The only mistake they made was to overlook the nine-year girl covering in the dark kitchen.....
Eve discovers a little girl survived her family assination. Eve gets caught up in taking care of the little girl and finding the murders.
Wonderful series! I can't get enough of the "In Death" series. Suspense, romance & mystery all wrapped into one.

No affairs. No criminal connections. No DNA. No Clues. Only a nine year old girl - the only survivor. Can they keep her alive long enought to capture the guilty?
A novel in the futuristic series starring Lt. Eve Dallas. She returns to New York City in 2059---where she struggles to solve the murder of a seemingly ordinary family, and protect one small, terrified survivor.
Excellent, I love this series!!

Can be read individually, though it is a triology, and an excellent read. Enjoy all her books.
Eve and Roark what else needs to be said. This one add's a child in need of rescue and Dallas must find who and why her parents and brother and her little sleepover friend was killed. Great story See how much Eve has grown from the first few books. Excellant addition to the In Death Series.

showed Eve's compassionate side
In the 20th fine volume of Roberts's futuristic mystery franchise, police lieutenant Eve Dallas is called in when lawyer Grant Swisher and his family are massacred with eerie skillfulness on the Upper West Side. The only survivor is 10-year-old Nixie, who evades—and witnesses—the killers as she creeps down to the kitchen for a midnight snack. Despite the painful memories of her own childhood that Nixie's presence calls up, Eve decides to hide the girl in the high-tech mansion she shares with her husband, billionaire businessman Roarke. With help from Roarke; her faithful sidekick, Peabody; and others, Eve discovers the existence of a shadowy former military operative with a grudge against Swisher—the lawyer helped the operative's battered wife divorce him right before she disappeared. The relatively early disclosure of the villain's identity and the dearth of other viable suspects dulls the suspense in the first half of the book, but tension escalates toward an absorbing denouement as a trap Eve sets for her target ends up with Nixie as its unintentional bait. Throughout, the series' colorful supporting cast and Eve's prickly personality—smartly showcased in her power struggles with everything from space-age vending machines to her own past—remain as vividly appealing as ever.

An upper-middle class family is murdered in their beds with brutal, military precision. A state-of-the-art security system was breached and the killers used night vision equipment to move through the house. They might have pulled off the perfect crime except they overlooked a nine-year-old girl who hid in the dark kitchen. Not one to be comfortable with children Dallas takes the child into protective custody hoping that she can help her solve this crime.

Another J.D. Robb in the "Death" series. Involves a child, which gets to Eve very deeply.
Eve and Roarke rock!
Reading them all! :)
Eve Dallas mysteries. I like the fact that they take place in the future and have imaginative technical advances as part of everyday life. The characters are enjoyable.

The Swisher family was murdered in their beds with military percision. There is no DNA, no criminal background, no affaifs, no clues. The only suriver is the small daughter who saw all. Can Eve Dallas save her? Why was the family killed? This is a twisted tale that will keep you guessing.
another excellent story in the "In Death" series

J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts is an excellent writer. I love her books as must read!
I always enjoy the Eve Dallas mysteries and this was no exception. This one tells of the trauma of a young girl witnessing her parents murders and the affection that Eve's hard core husband, Roarke, and sometimes snide butler, Summerset, develop for the child.

In her newest novel in the series, Nora Roberts, aka J.D. Robb, returns to the New York City of 2059 - where Leiutenant Eve Dallas struggles to solve the murder of a seemingly ordinary family, and protect one small, terrified survivor. Kid's are not Dallas' strong point but she steps up to the plate and provides the child a safe place to stay - with her. She makes a promise to the child that she will find the killer and bring him to justice. Her involvement in the case unearths some of her own darketst memeories and deepest fears. I liked the pace of the book and found myself ignoring all my evening chores to sit down and read !

Robb is Nora Roberts' nom de plume for her mysteries set in the near future. One of my favorite mystery series.
A fabulous book. Anyone who loves the Death series knows what I mean when I say I cannot way for J.D. Robb to write the next Eve and Roarke story! A must read.
